I know this is a touchy subject but I have a question. A friend of mine who has a medical marijuana card due to cancer shared one of her edibles with me. I have neuropathy in my arms/hands and was having a bad day. It was a low dose but I haven’t been pain free in years. For a whole day all my joints felt like I was 20 again. It was so nice to be able to walk down the stairs and my knees not crack or my hands not hurt from holding onto the railing. I had therapy that day and I could move my fingers again too.
The issue I have is asking for a card. Do any of you have a medical card? And if so for what? I am nervous that I am asking for something that is still taboo. I have tried the cbd oils and they don’t work. I am tired of taking Advil all the time.
Thanks in advance for your advice.

Hello....I don't know why this is still such a taboo subject, but I do understand. I have been a Medical Marijuana patient for about 7 years. I do not smoke anything. I found some capsules that if frozen, the 10 mg. capsule can be cut into different sizes. I find that using 1/3 cap, or about 3 mg. of the THC capsule will take the edge off of my pain levels. I have chronic pain and arthritis. It also calms me down and helps reduce the itch of PBC.
I started with this as I too cannot and should not be taking the Advils, Tylenols, etc. I do keep strong narcotics on hand for the rare occasions I go into muscle spasm, but I alway try the THC caps first. My personal rule of thumb is if the THC does not touch the pain, and I've waited three days with no relief, I will take a prescribed Norco. I hate them as they make me physically ill, but do stop the pain. Most times, the THC will do the trick. I too have tried CBD's and they do not work for me. Do what is right for you...life is too short to be miserable. Be well
Not at all taboo. Better than taking Advil. In Colorado it is legal and assessable at any pot shop. No prescription need. Eatables ,oils whatever. I have arthritis and use the cream. It works great. No shame in it.
I get the taboo thing...even though it’s legal in my state, it still feels wrong....just not used to it I guess😊
I use edibles for itching and pain, and also a cream with thc in it for joint pain. My liver doc is fine with it. I feel like it’s better for you than Advil. Hope this helps!
I'm in Illinois. We finally got a new governor and so hoping pot will be legalized here. As others have pointed out, used wisely it's better than advil for my ongoing neck joint aches and pains. Also, I'm hoping to use tiny amount for better sleep on some nights.
I’m in IL too. I am hoping it will become legal too because I need it to be safe before I do it. I was thinking of asking my doc but worried about how they will react.
I also am in Illinois and feel weird about asking for it. But I do not want to take stronger pain meds because of the side effects. Perhaps this will open the door to more research and unbiased results
I live in Alabama so theres no hope of it getting legalized here anytime soon. Our governor is so backwards and seems to only want to keep our state in the dark ages as long as possible.
Morning...I just read the other posts and wanted to comment on those from Illinois. I have researched medical marijuana licensing there as I have elderly relatives who are in need of the benefits of it. They, as with other states have Medical Marijuana Licensing doctors who you would go to. You do not obtain the license from your regular doctor, nor need their permission. You would need some medical records stating your ailments. There are many in the state, as well as, dispensaries. Good luck on your internet search for a MML doctor.
I have seen contradictory information regarding marijuana use and effect on liver.. I know that Oregon has some published research on it (when they legalized recreational usage). For me, I look at choices-- is an occasional Advil for my chronic neck aches and pains harder for my liver to process than a small bit of marijuana? I'm 66 so I am trying to balance the quality of my actual day to day life NOW- these days- with my future 10-12 years...
