Loss of sight scare
Hi Everyone, Hope all are well, coping, with these inflammatory conditions. I am just home from a NYC Hospital w an event that was truly frightening. And again it concerned doctors, claiming to be "experts" in GCA, and not knowing what the h--- they were doing. After 2 bouts of penicillin, I walked

should cortisone always be combined with DHEA?
The Hertoghe doctors say you need to take DHEA with hydrocortisone or Medrol (unless you also suffer from PCOS). The reason is that DHEA will prevent cortisone from "eating up" too much tissue. Therefore, you are handed a prescription for DHEA along with your prescription for cortisone. Last year, my

Steroid induced Shingles?
Hi everyone, I'm new here and am wondering if anyone else has experienced Shingles as a result of Steroids? I was diagnosed about 18 months ago with seropositive RA. I take MTX and Hydroxychloroquine. I had an initial Depo-Medrone jab to help until the drugs kicked in. All was well until I had a bad

synthetic corticosteroid
Solumedrol IV treatment- people are willing to use a synthetic corticosteroid when turmeric or frankincense oil or extreme high doses of Vitamin D3 can help, curious as to the why's?

Acupoints Massage Therapy For PPMS
For years I tried to reach out for PPMS patients like me. Since 1995, I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and IBS. In year 2000, I was confirmed with Spinal Cord MS. Injections and oral medications (except Elavil) did not slow down my progression. In 2011, I was in the hospital and came home in wheelchair

adrenal support after weaning off Medrol
I recently order this product after weaning off Medrol (4 mg daily) which I took for almost five years for adrenal fatigue: https://www.pureformulas.com/pure-adrenal-400-60-capsules-by-professional-formulas.html The reason I ordered this supplement was 1. I don't feel optimal yet (tend to feel tired

This will get the star for brainfog for sure.
If it wasn't true, it might even be funny. 😏 But when I share these things it helps me realize they are not as desperate as it feels. As you know, I've been on the steroids for about 14 mos. I take methylprednilosone which is not prednisone proper, but it is medrol, or solumedrol.... same kind of side

how to know if I'm estrogen dominant or deficient...?
This is not directly thyroid-related but I hope it's OK to post this question here anyway, hoping that someone will know more about this: I have been asking myself a lot of questions lately about estrogen deficiency vs dominance. The symptoms seems confusingly similar in many cases....five years ago,

Prednisone and hair loss
I have been taking prednisone since last October . I started with 20mg per day and slowly tapered down to 7.5 . It does the job of masking pain symptoms and allows me to function well enough for now. However, my hair has been falling off like crazy and now I'm down to half maybe more of my normal hair

Length of relapse
I'm starting to get a little concerned about the relapse that I am currently having. Although I have seen slight improvement, and most of my energy has returned, I'm still not back to my "normal". It has been close to a month when my symptoms first started, and two weeks since I've been off solumedrol

hypertension - too much NDT or licorice root?
I have been on Adrenaplex for the past few months, after successfully (and finally) managing to wean myself of Medrol (put on it in late 2011 after being diagnosed with adrenal fatigue by Hertoghe doctor). Adrenaplex contains licorice root, and I know you are supposed to avoid that if you suffer from

Solumedrol
I am so thankful for the support I am feeling from everyone on here. I have been in the hospital for about 4 days on a solumedrol iv. I am still having numbness, tingling, weakness in the legs. I know everyone is different, but if anyone is willing to share their experiences with this, I would greatly

Possible Adrenaline Rushes While Tapering Depo-Medrol
As many readers are aware, I began a weekly regimen of depo-medrol injections for PMR in late August of 2016. See my 3 month old post: “Depo-Medrol Injections for the Treatment of PMR”. My initial maintenance dose was 80 mg per week which resulted in a steroid pulse that began at 20 mg on the day

would appreciate input on latest lab results
I'd really appreciate some input on my latest labs. I have been on Thyroid-S from Thailand for the past few months, as that is much cheaper than Erfa, Armour etc. I like Thyroid-S, and have felt good on it, although I find it rather weak (possibly because of all the fillers, including cellulose), which

Knee Surgery and lymphedema and other
I have mild lymphedema and lupus. I take a shot once a month of depo medrol for my pain and have found that it takes down the swelling in my legs. If I go over my month it starts swelling again. I also have a condition called Lipodermatosclerosis where the skin hardens around my ankles and now is starting

Depo-Medrone
Does anyone else have 3 monthly Depo-Medrone IM? If so, how long have you had them for and what noticeable side effects do you have? I'm due for another on Tuesday and my whole body is screaming PAIN! I was the same before the last two and the DM jab takes effect within 24 hours. Happy New Year.

The differences between Prednisone, Prednisolone, and Medrol.
jwb43, When you take prednisone, it must first be metabolized in the liver to its active form, prednisolone. And while oral prednisone and prednisolone are used interchangeably, the latter (for obvious reasons) is more readily absorbed by the body. Medrol, is a brand name for methylprednisolone, which
