Suspected lung cancer
Hi guys, I have difficulty breathing for about 10 years now, some days is worse than others. It's very tight and heavy chest at all times, feels like breathing through the straw and like I need to keep getting satisfying deep breath. I don't have cough. I had X-ray, CT scan, normal scan, blood tests,

One Very Successful Year and Counting
It was one year ago today I received my first immunotherapy infusion after being diagnosed with Stage IV non-small cell lung cancer. My initial scan three months later showed a 75-85% shrinkage in tumors and ten months into treatment I was told there was No Evidence of Disease. That is the state of

The "Sally Painting Story"
For many people, the name Sally Painting may be unknown. But Sally was an inspiration for so many people. She was the first-ever liver transplant patient to later become a nurse. She even worked on the same liver ward at the QE Hospital, Birmingham where she was once a patient. At the age of 13, Sally

Lung Transplant: “Dry Run”
Hi, Of the people who have had or are listed for a
lung
transplant
, can you tell me how you coped with “dry runs” ( not sure what else to call them) I got called to Harefield, 2 days ago, as they potentially had suitable lungs for me. I had all the bloods, swabs, was prepped for theatre etc.

Liver Transplant – Letter to Donor family – totally gutted.
I had my liver transplant back in 2016 due to alcohol abuse and Hepatocellular Carcinoma. For a good 10-months post-transplant, I suffered terribly with survivors guilt and PTSD. I honestly felt that writing that letter to the donor family was an honest reflection of my gratitude. It helped me to deal

DNA mutations impacting liver disease patients identified by Wellcome Sanger Institute and Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute
From time to time I like to post up any interesting liver research that’s recently been concluded, that may be of interest to others. When I developed end-stage liver disease back in 2015, I became diabetic. No one could tell me why, or even which type of diabetes I had. The diabetic doctor told me it

Antibody infusions?
I know a young man in my community who received a kidney transplant a few years ago. I have heard thru mutual friends that he has been diagnosed with covid and in the hospital not doing too well. Anyway, this brings me to think about treatments...are transplant patients able to get the antibody infusions

Eleven years. Who’d have thought it possible.
Today marks the end of year eleven and the first day of year 12. Hard to believe I’ve traveled around the sun 11 times with this cancer. This is a copy and paste of something I wrote last year. I couldn’t say it any better. ———————————————————- Much to my amazement, and that of my family, friends
