I am Researching Saint Thomas hospital out of Murphysboro Tennessee for kidney transplant. I see that they are relatively close to me, they are in my insurance network, short wait time and they are a Medicare approved facility.
The reviews online are average. Does anyone have actual knowledge or experience with St Thomas (TN) for kidney transplant?
Noticed no one answered your question. I, too, don't know anything about that particular transplant center. It looks like it has significant kidney availability and that's very important. The other thing I noted is that the staff is largely Southeast Asian (India, Pakistan, Nepal, etc.) in background. The transplant team at VCU in Richmond is the same. So maybe they've had similar training at hospitals, etc. The issues that happened to my husband (a-fib and ureter leak) seem to happen pretty evenly across the centers. And getting either of these is quite rare. So I'd probably go and check it out. See how the situation feels to you. When we had our consult in Richmond, I left there certain that my hubby's kidney would come from there. Their underlying perspective was to "transplant sooner, not later". Their view matched ours - we didn't want to wait as hubby wasn't getting any younger, things happen as we age. Hubby was indeed transplanted before the projected time.
