Cirrhosis and depression
I was wondering if anyone else has experienced extremely low mood with all the conditions associated with having cirrhosis. I am only 9 weeks sober and feel like I have hit a brick wall. My itching is unbearable, chronic fatigue and aches and pains all over. How have others managed to get through

PBC, cirrhosis, and now fatty liver?
Wow, I'm so confused! I was diagnosed with PBC that had already reached cirrhosis about six years ago. I discovered that a Chinese herbal I was taking (for insomnia) was likely part of the problem...it was banned in Canada without me knowing due to it causing liver, brain and nerve damage. After I stopped

Fibroscan results today
I finally received my Fibroscan results from the hepatolgist. The KPA was very low and the CAP was very high. The doctor said F0 on the KPA. He told me the CAP just tells us there is fat in your liver which we already knew. He did not mention percentage of fat. He said the fat is not causing any issues

Newly diagnosed Hep C I have no information
I've just been diagnosed with Hep C today... I'm expecting an appointment for an ultrasound and a fibroscan and I should start a course of treatment in a months time. Apart from that I have no information. I think I may have been in shock when I was told and did not ask any questions. I guess it is

Does liver effect your hair
Just a question Does fatty liver have any effect on hair. I feel my hair is really thinning to a worrying degree. Not sure if allowed to use Manoxidil (Regaine) the only topical scalp medication that dr recommends. As it’s only applied to scalp not digested, but not sure if I can use it.

NAFLD online calculator
How accurate is the NAFLD online calculator? Did anyone use this tool and found it to be fairly accurate after receiving test results from your doctor? I am finally getting my Fibroscan results tomorrow (after 6 weeks) and my anxiety is kicking in. I contacted the nurse about a month ago via email and

Cirrhosis over time.
Hi, I’ve recently joined having been diagnosed with cirrhosis back in March 2021. I’ve not had a drink since then, my health has improved significantly and I feel a whole lot better. My bloods are now normal and my recent endoscopy showed 2 small grade 1 varicies with no red risks. At my recent check

Deranged bloods, no fatty liver no fibrosis
A little further down my road of tests, in summary I have no symptoms but it all started with a cholesterol test of 8.9, gp said it could be liver related as it’s too high to be diet. Had liver bloods and ALT was high at 150. Repeat test and ALT was 350.Refer to liver specialist, just had ultrasound

Stereotyping and stigmatising
Some thoughts. I think a lot of people diagnosed with ARLD struggle with the idea they're an "alcoholic" due to the preconceived idea of what an "alcoholic" is. I didn't fit what was in my mind in terms of behaviour etc and still had a job, house, relationship and so on. My point is a problem drinker

Diagnosed with hepatorenal syndrome
My dad was diagnosed with alcoholic decompensated cirrhosis in May 2021. He stopped drinking since he found out and all his blood tests improved almost to normal levels, bilirubin dropped from 16 to 5, however earlier this week when he got to the hospital to have the liquid drained from his abdomen

Alcohol Sensitivity with Liver Disease
I've been a binge drinker for 17 years. Not everyday, mostly just on weekends, where I would drink around 10 - 15 bottles of beer per day. I would drink more during Christmas time, and other major holidays. In the last few years, the hangovers had begun to be worse than before, and just to feel better

Alcoholic experiencing liver tenderness and random pains yet ultrasound and bloods do not indicate cirrhosis.
I’ve had shoulder pain, random liver pains and occasionally my lower right rib cage is tender to even touch. I explained my concerns to my doctor, had blood screening and full abdominal ultrasound, gallbladder, liver, kidneys, aorta etc we’re all within the norm, the spleen slightly on the large side

Paracentesis Tomorrow
Jimmy is having his first paracentesis tomorrow morning. Please keep us in your prayers that it goes smoothly, not too hard on him and that no bad results from tests afterwards. I was happy with his blood work today. Yes, still have things that are Low or High (expected with cancer and liver disease

Upcoming Procedure
Jimmy went to see GI yesterday because his regular Dr felt he had fluid built up in stomach. He's scheduled for procedure to pull fluid off this Thursday. In Memory of Dave
Hello my friends here. As many of you knew, Dave was diagnosed with liver cancer in March 2018. He managed his chemo treatment pretty well and stayed surprisingly strong and robust for three years. At the end of May this year, he had a second Y90 radiation treatment on his liver and this sent him into
