Possible ckd?
I have a gfr of 48 and 2-3 weeks ago it was 47 and I am 65 years old. All other blood tests came back satisfactory. Should I be worried?

Final Update on Kidney Infection

Unable to go to bathroom
Unable to go to bathroom at all unless with catheter or self cath (been this way for 2.5 months). Started with having turp. Doctors say prostrate is too enlarged and removing it is not an option. Has anyone experienced this and if so what helped. This is miserable. I’m curious if chemo shrinks it if

Overmedication -> Kidney damage
I've realised that my hormonal problems, and variable levothyroxine dose for the last few years may have been the main contributing factor for my rapid decline in kidney function 120-80 GFR in 3-4 years. Some studies I have only just come across say overmedicaiton accelerates the disease. Has anyone

Does anyone know anything about the use of deflazacort instead of prednisone for PMR?
Searching the web tonight for prednisone information, I came across deflazacort for the first time. It seems to have better characteristics in terms of less bone loss and other side effects. The article I found (link below) talks about kidney transplantation; does anyone know whether it is being used

Can kidney transplant patients be architects?
I am an architecture student possibly having a living donor kidney soon (stable on HD) I was wondering, does the tac tremor mean that architecture would be unrealistic? Are there any architects on here? Thanks.

Stage 3a newly diagnosed
Hello everybody, I'm new here. I got the dreadful call from my GP to say that I was probable Stage 3a CKD based on GFR 59. This has hit me so hard I find it hard to find my bearing. I cried all day and night yesterday. I don't know what to do at this moment. Anybody with a similar story? What do you

Winter in the Piedmont
On Wednesday, we caught the edge of a winter storm that battered the northeast. We had an inch and a half of freezing rain, and temperatures that stayed right at freezing; everything was coated with ice. Hearing a crack, I looked up to see this typical, shallow rooted Virginia pine topple, pulled down

I thought you might like this.
Looking for a sunset bird in winter. Robert Frost The west was getting out of gold, the breath of air had died of cold, when shoeing home across the white, I thought I saw a bird alight. In summer when I passed the place I had to stop and lift my face; A bird with an angelic gift was singing in it

Oxford vaccine stimulates broad antibody and T cell functions.
Today, researchers from the University of Oxford have published further data from the Phase I/II clinical trials of the ChAdOx1 nCoV-19 coronavirus vaccine, evidencing the decision to move to a two-dose regimen in ongoing phase III trials, and how ChAdOx1 nCov-19 is induces broad antibody and T cell

Hi. I don't have a diagnosis of lupus, but have over the years for many reasons suspected that I may have it. I do have a diagnosis of antiphospholipid syndrome and was under the lupus unit for that from 2006 until last October, when I was discharged. I have been told in the past, by more than one medic

Now What?
I've given Copaxone 4 years, and I have to say that it has not allowed any exacerbations. However, I am so needle-weary. I had only three zones to begin with which had enough fat for me to inject. My abdomen and hips have lots of lipoatrophy, so I'm running out of places in which to inject. I think

Bladder neck constriction
I was having trouble urinating, a little twinge of pain like when you’re driving long time then really gotta go! Doc gave me antibiotics for possible UTI, didn’t help. Then he did Swab to identify what if any bacteria was there it came back negative. Ultrasound and another dye injection test showed
