Hey hunny I’m sorry to hear things aren’t to good right now. In answer to your question it all comes down to how his other bloods are and if he is retaining much fluid. I’m in North Wales and my GFR was at 7 when they decided to start my dialysis. But my blood results were awful even though I felt okay I was told I really wasn’t well. So I believe it varies from place to place and unit to unit. Reach out to the team and ask what they think. They are there to work with your husband for his best interest. All I would say to you right now is enjoy your Christmas be sensible with food and liquid consumption and reach out as soon as your unit reopens after Christmas. It’s scary and it’s not anyone’s fault but you will get there I promise my love xxx

Sorry to hear about the chronic failure. Starting dialysis all depends on how he is feeling and how his labs are. Only his nephrologist can determine that.Stay well!
