Effects of dietary intervention on human diseases: molecular mechanisms and therapeutic potential
Several neurodegenerative diseases (NDs), such as epilepsy, Alzheimer’s disease (AD), Parkinson’s disease (PD), Huntington’s disease (HD), and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), which feature chronic progressive damage to the nervous system, have been proven to be tightly connected with nutrient availability

Normal test results after CKD diagnosis
Well, after having another blood test ( number 3) to check liver function and also a urine test been told over the phone results are normal no action. Not sure what this means so going to ring to try to speak to doc next week. Not sure how you can go from a you have CKD diagnosis to normal 3 weeks later

Dilemma: what to do with unused embryos?
Dearest all, Whilst I am fully aware that having unused embryos is an extremely fortunate position (my first round I had no embryos to transfer), I am seeking your advice on a complex, perhaps moral dilemma. I feel I am at the end of my journey after six egg collections, but I have two unused embryos

Hi, just wanted to give those who are poor responders to IVF some hope. My daughter had zero blasts on first round, and only 2 blasts on her second round (clinic couldnt understand why as all results/scans showed ok) she decided to do a frozen trf with both and she has this month given birth 2 two healthy

OHSS, how long after egg collection?
Hi, First round of IVF and had eggs collected yesterday. I have all the risk factors for OHSS, but we are mitigating as much as possible (gnrh agonist trigger, freezing eggs, Cabergoline, clexane and gnrh antagonist for the next few days). For those who have had OHSS, how long after the collection did

Local anesthesia or full anesthesia for egg retrieval?
Hello hello, I hope you are all well. I am very new in the IVF world, we will probably have an IVF this summer and I wonder if we can choose to have a local anesthesia instead of a full anesthesia for the egg retrieval ? We are at the UCLH if anyone experienced a IVF there. Thank you all and best

Advice/support much needed!! 2nd round of icsi
Looking for words of encouragement or support as I’m getting ready for my second round and feeling really anxious and negative. My background: Had first ICSI cycle in Feb. Only got 3 eggs, 1 wasn’t mature, 1 was fertilised but didn’t make it, 1 made it to a low grade blast and was transferred on day

After Transfer Advice!
I am due my 3rd transfer next Tuesday after the first two have failed, all since November. And I need some advice! My sister in law is running the London Marathon on the Sunday, so 4 dpt. Should I cancel going up there to support her and watch? It’s something she’s only going to do once - but obviously

Glioblastoma and Parkinson's; hereditary?
My mom was diagnosed with gliblastoma (brain cancer) in 2000. I was diagnosed with PD in 2015, If I understand it correctly, the folloing article indicates both conditions apparently can involve the same set of genes. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7468383/ I am wondering if I might

My fiancé suffered a major stroke two weeks ago a day after being diagnosed with atrial fibrillation which caused two blood clots. He was in Addenbrooke’s for six days where the doctor told me if he survived this as it’s likely he could have another stroke that he would end up in a care home. I’m absolutely

Selegiline - Noticeably improved symptoms
My new neurologist started me on Selegiline 10 mg/day. In two weeks I reduced my Sinemet from two pills per day to one. My tremor is much calmer and I feel more clear. So far no negative side effects and I take the first 5 mg on an empty stomach.

Fibroscan Result - False?
Good Morning Everyone, I have been diagnosed with early cirrhosis last summer (July 2023) and have a Child Pugh A and a meld of 9. I have done two Elastology ultrasounds - first in July was 11.8 kpa and the second Nov 1st was 9.0 kpa. My liver enzymes are all in line and came back in line within

IVF Abroad - OTD UK
Hi All, looking for some advice. I had a frozen transfer last week (our last one) abroad and the clinic advised to test this Friday coming (12th). Given all the expenses and work, I couldn't stay abroad any longer so I am now in the UK and I am trying to figure out my options about testing on Friday

16 follicles but only 3 now growing?
Hi all - long time loiterer, first round IVF-er. I am in the stims stage of our first ever IVF round and slowly baking some follicles over here for first collection for PGTA. I know there are huge drop-offs at each stage - and super unlikely to get great numbers when I'm 42, however......at my baseline

IVF and loneliness
Hi there, I’m 37 and have been TTC for 2 years. My husband and I have recently been referred for IVF and our cycle is due to start this month. I’m already finding the process very emotionally draining and stressful. One of my biggest struggles is the feeling of loneliness and that no one around me
