Update from previous post - 3 embryos made it to blastocysts and I've just had a fresh transfer leaving my other 2 in the freezer.
I've had both a fresh and frozen transfer previously and would like to know if anyone has had any success with a fresh transfer as when reading up about them it looks less likely to implant, feeling a bit deflated that I was too inpatient to hold out for a FET.
Thanks x

I had no idea there was a difference in success rate! Could it be because fresh transfers are never genetically tested whereas frozen often are? Sure there are lots of factors involved either way and it seems unlikely the clinic would push for a fresh transfer if there was a really significant difference.
As for success stories, I had a BFP on Friday following a fresh transfer and have seen lots of others similar. Obviously still early days but it's definitely possible! Wishing you the best of luck and hoping it works out for you xxx
I've had 4 fresh transfers and 1 frozen. Out of the 4 fresh transfers, 3 implanted. Although first 2 ended in miscarriage my 4th transfer (double) ended in a successful twin pregnancy. For me fresh transfer has been quite successful.
hi, I never had anything to freeze from my first 3 cycles so only had fresh transfers and number 3 gave me my son. I know what you mean as there is less time for your body to recover but in some ways it’s a bit more ‘natural’ and there are fewer drugs required after implantation. I recently had FET success but I much preferred the fresh transfer in terms of feeling that my body was supporting the early pregnancy rather than 5 medications per day. I’m very grateful to have both experiences and I don’t think there is much to choose between them in terms of success rates. Good luck 🍀🍀🍀
Hi, I felt ok but I was 40 at the time so I don’t think I got much bloating during stims as I don’t think I responded much. I only had 6 follicles on the highest stims doses which maybe means I didn’t feel as bloated as my ovaries produces fewer colicked? I was quite crampy after egg collection but that had all resolved by transfer day. It was honestly such a shock to have an embryo to transfer as I thought my cycle was over, so I didn’t really pay any attention to how I was feeling as I was expecting none to make day 5.
I did 6 cycles, from June 2022 to August 2023, so i started just before my 41st birthday and last one was just before my 42nd birthday. All cycles i did day 5 transfers except for 1 where i did day 3, but that one was negative.
2_3 per cycle is a good number. Sorry for my endless questions, but we're you using supplements and if so which ones? And in total how many eggs were retrieved?
I did use supplements but dont remember which exactly, i read the book it starts with the egg. Some cycles i had 5 eggs some 7, but always ended up with 2 or 3 that made it to day 5.
I'm currently 10 weeks pregnant from a fresh transfer. It's still early days, but so far, so good. They collected 18 eggs and I ended up hospitalised with OHSS, which was awful, but I'm still glad my clinic decided to go ahead with a fresh transfer as it still led to a positive outcome.
I was quite bloated after my transfer & it probably lasted about 2 weeks. I was in a lot of discomfort after the egg collection that just continued and I was worried about having a fresh transfer but am currently 23 weeks pregnant 🙏🏼 x hope all goes well for you 🤞🏼
My clinic says there is a difference and I suspect that is all to do with the fact that frozen transfers are very closely monitored and often cancelled if everything doesn’t look perfect. With 3 though it’s a good idea to do what you have done and do both - some people react better to fresh and it is certainly easier on your body! Good luck
Congratulations on your 3 blastocysts! That is amazing! I got everything crossed for your transfer! Hope the two weeks to wait now goes well for you! 💫🤞🧡
We had success with our first fresh transfer, we had 8 eggs and 2 blastocysts out of those! Fresh transfer resulted in our little 2 year old! My FET failed and just had another fresh transfer, so waiting for test day! But I am older now and had such a poor stimulation round. My eggs are just poor quality! We had a day 5 morula transferred (a day behind in development), so odds are now against us a little! But I am holding onto hope! So for me I don’t think it is fresh vs frozen transfer.. it is more if our embryos are normal. We are unexplained infertility, but as our rounds have proven, it seems to be egg quality! Despite me trying everything I felt possible to improve that! So it was just a numbers game.
I felt bloated and quite constipated after transfer with our first one. Had a few cramps, almost like period pains. Adding those progesterone supplements really made me feel off. I was advised lactulose, which just made bloating worse, so took a lower dose, of 5ml and just kept really well hydrated! I rested when I could and otherwise kept active and walking! But like say - all went well! 🥹🥰
I wish you all success!! I got everything crossed for you and your little blasto!! 🤞🧡💫
I really wish you all the best with you little embryo - the two week wait really is the worst. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for you ❤️ When is test day?
I have been drinking so much water which has definitely helped with the bloating, the downside I'm up numerous times a night needing the toilet! 😂
Hi I have only had success with fresh transfers, my first fresh worked in 2021 (sadly lost our daughter) currently 24 weeks pregnant with my second fresh transfer, had 4 frozen transfers over the years which did not work for us.
Wow, that's amazing! Huge congratulations to you! Can I ask how you were feeling on the day on embryo transfer, did you feel bloated at all? I've made sure I'm drinking plenty of water and feel much better today 🤞
Thanks for all of your positive comments - it seems like fresh transfers do work! I guess I'm just slightly anxious as my first one didn't even implant, but here's hoping 🤞Now for the dreaded 2WW - ahhh! 😂
Hi, I am currently 8 weeks from a fresh transfer. 5 frozen for later. My scan this week was positive. My friend also has her little boy from a fresh transfer. It happens! Keeping fingers crossed for you.
