Low kt/v score
Ok time for a 6 month update: So after 6 months of PD dialysis, my kt/v score from my 48 hour urine collection, PD sample, and blood test this week came back as 1.43. This was after they increased my volume to 2300ml per exchange, 4 exchanges a night over 10 hours. So I'm still flunking that test. At

when to start dialysis
My GFR just hit 15 and my nephrologist says I can start PD dialysis as soon as I want and it may improve the way I feel. Seems like a huge decision to make as I dont think I feel that bad but who knows. How did people decide when to start dialysis and do you feel better now that you are doing it.

The Queen is still gonna shine even in the rain
I think it is easy for me to be positive because I am not on dialysis. I think and hope a kidney donor is around the corner. I don't only hope for myself, but I wish more people would donate. I have to remember when I was healthy donating was not even on my radar and I remember one time one of my friends

I am confused CKD
Some time ago, just over 2 years now I had to go into hospital for just a day with a breathing problem and whilst there I had several blood tests. I was told one of them, the kidney function test was abnormal and I might be referred to see a renal consultant. That actually didn't happen. I have

Orphenadrine
My hwp had been using ophenadrine some time ago and stopped because of fears around using anticholinergics. However, his unrelenting battle with sciatica has me wondering if it might not be worth taking the risk. He is a well person in every other way, but the pain has him battling to do exercise. He

Bladder & Urethra Issue
RP 2007 and EBRT 2009. I've had intermittent hematuria for many years and on 3 occasions blood clots have caused obstruction and inability to urinate. I've learned to self catheterize in these situations which has usually resolved the issue after a few days. This time it's more severe. Heavy bleeding

What does having a NEW KIDNEY feel like?
Hi All, I have been in the transplant list for a year now and still waiting to get called. I can’t just help to wonder what having a kidney transplant will feel like. Apart from the fact that it will be a gift of life and freedom from being tied down to dialysis. What does it feel like? Will you

Protein in my urine
Hi there! I am 6 months post kidney transplant. First I'd like to say that I was very blessed, I was approved and put on the list May 3, 2023 and I received my new kidney from a perfect match deceased donor June 13, 2023. My transplant team said that is very rare and very lucky. I have had some challenges

I can't sleep feel like my heart is going to stop
It's one of those nights again. I feel pressure in my chest. I thought I was going to be able to sleep today but I guess not. Its frustrating because I was already falling asleep but I was awaken by a sudden jerk. Now every time I am falling asleep I get woken up by the sudden jerk that makes me feel

Transplant Question
I’ve been wondering for awhile if kidney transplants are given once a person is past a certain age? I’m in the U.S. and I have a cousin who had severe liver disease. She was 75 & the state she lived in didn’t perform liver transplants on anyone over 68. I checked with my state, & liver transplants

Question
Husband had 3-mo. blood work yesterday and I was checking for results on portal when I noticed MO had notation for 7/11 appointment: "Creatine (ISTAT) radiology to draw." Have no idea why it's there, seems like something to do with a scan, but she knows he can't tolerate scans and has refused them lately

Help!
Feel like I’ve hit rock bottom again last few weeks. After eventually tapering off of Pred June last year, I believe I told you lovely people I started getting issues with my fingers , then wrists. So pretty evident the Pred was masking these pains ( well I am assuming that). I eventually returned to

Virtual support group for dialysis patient?
Hi I'm looking for a virtual support group for someone starting dialysis. The ones I know about either have mostly transplant recipients (I prefer to have people who are going through dialysis, or about to start), or the meeting is mostly hearing from a speaker rather than people sharing their experience

Intrinsic factor antibody
I'm posting on here as I been advised to. I've just been back to my GP because I had a blood test done the other week for intrinsic factor antibody. I had a result of 3.66 which I thought was positive but my GP just said it's negative ? I had the test done because my vitamins b12 is 211.

OK - got another question -
Again, I'm 7 months post kidney transplant. My GFR is all over the place. Just. checked today and it is the lowest it has been since 2 months ago. During this first year of transplant, is that normal. Has anyone else experienced this? If you have, what did you do to raise it. I try to eat healthy
