How did you manage your initial diagnosis?
Hi, everyone. I’ve just had an official IBS diagnosis last Thursday. I had a call from a GP who just wanted to get me off the phone ASAP - I’ll be calling back tomorrow and asking for a f2f appt with my preferred and trusted GP. Because right now, I know very little. I don’t know what type of IBS

Can you take mebeverine if lactose intolerant?
I've had a box of mebeverine for a while but I'm a bit apprehensive to take it as I notice it says it contains lactose. I haven't touched dairy for 15+ years as it used to really upset my stomach. I desperately need to try something for my tummy as my IBS has been so bad recently, it is just so unsettled

I’m new to this so bear with me! I think for as long as I can remember I’ve always had issues with my bowels. Bloating, cramps mixture of stool types. Over the last year it seems to play up more frequently. Every morning like clock work I wake up and go straight to the toilet. Always a soft consistency

Amitriptyline for pain relief
Have been getting really bad lower bowel pain during a recent flare up, all usual meds, mebeverine, buscopan paracetamol and faithful heat pack, didn’t really help. Gp wants me to try low dose amitriptyline see if that helps. Just want to know if anyone else has tried it, did it help? Worried about side

Has anyone tried Mebeverine or Alverine Citrate?
Although I have had IBS for over 20+ years the last 4/5 years have been virtually non-stop. Two years ago I had lots of tests including a gastroscope with biopsies, a colonoscopy, ultra sound scans and a ct scan. Nothing was found. But still the symptoms persist. I have tried so much over the years and

Mebeverine
In the process of replying to somebody's post I came across the following. Apparently mebeverine contains lactose monohydrate. It appears that many drugs have this in them. See links below. https://www.theindependentpharmacy.co.uk/ibs/guides/mebeverine-dose https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full

Quick question.....
Does anybody know how long the effects of Mebeverine last? What I mean is.....if I take 1 tablet before breakfast....bout 7.30am, then maybe a slice of cake with a coffee at 11am, will I need to take another tablet? Or will the earlier tablet still be working? Grateful for any ideas guys.....

Tummy trouble almost 2 months
I had a sickness and diahorea bug 2 months ago and my stomach hasn't been right since. Stomach very noisy and bloated with constant pain. Excessive gas both ends and burps taste absolutely disgusting. Seem to have 1 day where it seems to ease slightly then its like the cycle starts all over again. I

Fybogel for ibs?
Hello, I've been taking mebeverine every day for the past 4 year, 3 times a day. And I have seen a huge improvement. However during warmer weather, for some reason, my ibs will flare up which happens every summer. I spoke to my gp today and he has suggested taking fybogel along side mebeverine. Does

Ibs symptoms management
Hi all, I mainly take a buscopan when I feel the cramping begin and it’s very hit and miss as to wether they work or not. I was prescribed mebeverine a while ago but haven’t taken them in ages as the three times a day thing didn’t really fit into my routine. Any other recommendations please?

I've been refused any scans or imaging, and have been fobbed off by my GP. The NHS has failed me.
I'm a 27-year-old female and have been having symptoms since August 2020. I'll summarise my current situation (please see my previous posts for more detailed explanations). I've been having constant pain in my lower left abdomen near the hip bone. I can feel a lumpy area there (possibly my colon). The

Pain during flare up
Hi. Diagnosed with IBS 18 months ago after a colonoscopy. In the middle of a flare up at the minute. Finding anything I eat or drink goes straight through me. Intermittent cramping. On mebeverine. Also suffering with bouts of trapped wind( pain under rib cage on left hand side). Has any one else experienced

Vomiting
I am 18 and suffer with endometriosis and IBS. I’ve now been vomiting every day for 9 months, I get bad lower stomach pain and diarrhea too. Does this sound like flare ups that other people experience? I’ve recently been given mebeverine to try which is helping but not stopped the vomiting and I’m desperate

mebeverine dose spacing
I have irritable bowel syndrome and also find it hard to remember to take my tablets, currently mebeverine. I've just found a new technique to remember my medication: store it right next to the dinner plates, and have just moved it there. However, tonight I cannot remember if I took a tablet earlier

IBS...yet to have a diagnosis, PIT test?
So it all started back in January, out of no where I'd get the sudden urge and be desperate to go to the toilet. At the time I just put it down to bad food/diet, yet it continued and found my self then going to the toilet 4-5 times a day, some one after the other. I had blood tests done to check for
