New approach to treating cystic fibrosis could lower risk of lung transplants and death.
A new approach to treating people with cystic fibrosis (CF) has been shown to reduce inflammation, which has the potential to reduce the need for lung transplants and lower the risk of death. The study, led by researchers at RCSI (Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland), is published in the current edition

Putting things in perspective
So it’s been almost 4 years since I was diagnosed with aggressive G9 PCa. Surgery, adjuvant RT and ADT, then more RT after recurrence in a handful of pelvic LNs. Been on ADT and Zytiga for 11 months to hopefully cleanup anything that may remain. PSA has been undetectable since the treatment for recurrence

Clinical Utility of Chromosomal Microarray in Richter's Transformation
Chromosomal microarray (CMA) is clever, very sensitive technology which looks for extra (duplicated) or missing (deleted) chromosomal segments, sometimes called copy number variants (CNVs) - see illustration. These include: microdeletions and microduplications of chromosome segments, which are too

I would like to know about success of kidney transplant at age of 68 yrs specifically in India. The patient had CKD because of diabetes and currently undergoes dialysis thrice a week. It has been 2.5 years since.

Concerned with Diagnosis
How reliable are results from a lung biopsy.(VAT’s)? Mine on 2013 diagnosed Usual Interstitial Pneumonitis (UIP), but my Consiltant disagreed and has treated me since for Hypersensitivity Pneumonitis. Now my condition is getting worse and I do not know who was right. Lung Transplant next

Temporal Ultrasound May Be Useful in Giant Cell Arteritis Disease Monitoring (in patients paring corticosteroids with tocilizumab)
Thought this was an interesting article... wouldn't it be great if ultrasounds became the standard and most reliable source for monitoring and tracking GCA, in all patients, not just those paring their corticosteroids with tocilizumab. The more tracking/monitoring, the more data... the more data,

Decision time for Multiple Myeloma
I have been fighting PC for 23 years and six months ago I was told I had MM. Had treatments for MM and was told that I had an excellent response was a perfect candidate for Stem Cell Transplant even though I was 78 years old and have comorbidities. After going through what seemed like a thousand tests

I AM ON STUDY TRANSPLANT LIST
I signed up at my Transplant Hospital to be one of the study participants in the hep C+ deceased kidney transplant recipients. The transplant doctor said it could be three days or 70 days until I receive a kidney, but it will not be waiting four more years on the Wait List. I was put on the Wait List

Dialysis/transplant advice
Hi Everyone, I'm new here. I was just told I need dialysis and to be put on a kidney transplant list, but I'm not feeling any pain or fatigue. I had kidney failure 22 years ago due to massive kidney stones in both kidneys. I know by blood pressure needs to be controlled, but I've been on a safer

Help with a mystery needed
In August I went went to a neurologist who tested my b12 levels because of neurological symptoms. I requested the test because in 2012 when I was trying to get pregnant a naturopathic dr found that my b12 levels were 350... at the time I had no symptoms. I remember her talking about intrinsic factor

Turned Down By USC!!!
I am beyond frustrated and upset! Well, my case was being presented at USC yesterday before the Review Board and I’ve been sitting on pins and needles for 2 weeks. My Coordinator said she’d call me next week with the results. But INSTEAD, she called in the afternoon to tell me they are DECLINING me
