Dialysis/transplant advice

Hi Everyone, I'm new here. I was just told I need dialysis and to be put on a kidney transplant list, but I'm not feeling any pain or fatigue. I had kidney failure 22 years ago due to massive kidney stones in both kidneys. I know by blood pressure needs to be controlled, but I've been on a safer for pregnancy blood pressure medication for years, although I've unsuccessfully gone past 3 months in pregnancy. I need some advice, did any of you go on dialysis while you were feeling pretty good? I don't feel sick at all, other than the high blood pressure and the occasional kidney stone I pass from time to time.

I am 49 years i started dyalisis when i was 47 i did for two years

While dyalisis i got a heart attack did a bypass surgery four months back did a live donor kidney transplant up to now i am very good

Only problem is i lost more than 100,000$ for the two years now i have a big financial problem

Debt is a problem, however, you are still alive to worry about it.

Speaking from my experience, I started dialysis after a progression of my numbers (EGFR 9) and worsening of my lab values including potassium, bicarbonate, Phosp, with worsening of blood pressure(unable to control with medications) and fluid retention. Every person must have this vital conversation with their personal physician as I did to have a clear understanding of the risks and benefits. But, I know now that kidney transplant is the only cure for chronic kidney disease that leads to ESRD. I hope all goes well for you on this journey.

I felt fine before I went on PD dialisys. Yes I just had the high blood pressure.

Yes, when I started dialysis I was feeling great and was wondering why I needed dialysis; my creatinine serum was over 6 and my GFR was 10-12; not good numbers. “Kicking and screaming “ I started HD dialysis. I held off starting dialysis as long as I could but finally the numbers (confirmed 3-4 times) were life threatening. Looking back I think I should have started earlier when my GFR was in the 15-20 range. I think my body would have been stronger. Being on dialysis for a year now there are days I feel great and days not so great. You realize after awhile that the reason you are still alive is because of dialysis!
