Coronavirus - are we at increased risk?

I'm sure we're all worrying about this but as they didn't think I was 'vulnerable' enough for a flu jab as I'm undiagnosed (I have FM and ME) I'm wondering if I'm considered vulnerable for this. I'm 60 and had pleurisy over 25 years ago. I also worry about other family members, one who has MS and also my mother who is elderly but very fit. But my main question is in relation to how Coronavirus it might affect us. I do realise the picture is constantly changing and there are a lot of unknowns as yet and that we need to do what we can to protect ourselves as our loved ones but I do worry that some people with weakened immune systems aren't recognised as vulnerable

I just found it before you put up the link. But I'm looking to hear from people who like me are undiagnosed with Lupus but have very similar symptoms

I think foggy that the best judge here will be yourself, taking into account your own current & past health record and your medications that might or might not affect your immune system.

Do you feel healthy enough to have a minor to moderate flu like bug ? Do you have issues with your breathing or lungs which would get worse if it becomes a chest affection or if it becomes worse than that?

I know for example, my health right now is very weaken & my meds to suppress my immune system, will not help to fight off this virus. I hoping to get some medical help soon for my current health issues (a long process of seeing various doctors) before I become a low propriety due to the now predicted spread of this virus.

I think there will be alot of us falling into the vunerable catagory and are perfect candidates for not doing well if the virus hits us. As such I am hoping my work realises this as I am already off sick.

Kinda not a good time for this virus, but out of are hands... wishing you & everyone on HU health & avoidance of this virus & hope it will be contained long enough to reach warmer weather when it has less chance of survival...

Hi Foggy, Sorry to shorten your name, It is of great concern, I am sure to all the community members here, But, help is on the way for information. I have been in contact directly with Paul about this topic, as it affects us all. The Administration is working diligently on a publishing for all HealthUnlocked communities. Because this takes time, correct information, and confirmations with approvals, it will be here soon.My personal idea is to live fearless, BUT, smart with common sense. Erroring on the sides of caution. We are all in compromised positions here, and together we can keep communicating, helping, and listening to each other. Be strong, use your worry ,place it into confidence, and get that power on your side. Do not be afraid, ask your health care GP's or other professionals when you have questions. Do not believe all that you read on other web sites other than those dedicated to this Global health concern. Go to the top of the food chain so to speak. The World Health Organisation, Or CDC, if you want to read. All of us, meaning you to are considered vulnerable, and valued. I pray for us all here, and you have the strength to carry on because you posted to ask. That makes you strong! We are here for eachother, keep mindful, and do not fear, mother nature has a way of turning things around when she is poked at. I send you my prayers, peace, and blessings. thestormy sunshine:)

What a lovely response thestorm . Yes, I am not thinking about all day, just so much in the media but at the same time we'd soon be worried if they were keeping it hidden - it's a question of balance I guess. Bright blessings to you :)

Personally, I would only be concerned if I was on immunosuppressant medication.

Hi. I should know this but immunosuppressive medications are steriods/prednisone, Mychophenolate etc...?

They would be medications like azathioprine (Imuran), mycophenolate (Cellcept), and cyclosporine (Neoral, Sandimmune, Gengraf).

That counts me in the concerned camp then😕
