Can't increase my iron levels
Hi all, I posted in February 2023 my low iron results and started taking 200 Ferrous Sulphate daily then. My iron results after 3 months were Ferritin 39 (20-204) Serum iron 18.6 (4.4-27.9) Feb 23 was: serum iron 11, ferritin was 29. So not a huge improvement. But now, a year on, even worse! Despite

B12 Deficiency
Firstly I have it myself and due well on regular injections, however it is very poorly diagnosed and managed in this country, patients popped onto pills when they should be having jabs. 1. https://pernicious-anaemia-society.org/articles/nice-cks-b12-deficiency/#:~:text=Initially%20administer%20hydroxocobalamin

Could it be B12 deficiency?
I have been guided to this forum from Thyroid Uk and I’m hoping that, with your help, I can make sense of the fatigue and weakness I have been experiencing. In October last year I experienced what I can only describe as a crash. I am normally fit and active and had a lovely summer with many trips camping

High Folate with PA terrible GP
Hello everyone, Im afraid this might be a little long, but i hope someone can help me. It has been a long and upsetting morning. It started with a 630am ER visit for excruciating groin/hip pain for past 6 days and very hard to walk. Anyway, I'm confused. Some of my tests came back surprising. I

NAC with ferritin deficiency or PA
Hi all. Just thought I’d pop in and ask my new friends if they know of any reason NAC shouldn’t be taken with iron tablets or B12, or whether NAC could actually have a negative effect on ferritin/B12 levels. Can’t find any info on this, so here I am 😊 I am awaiting latest blood results, so don’t

Generic B12-symptoms news article
Occasionally I see what I call a generic news article on issues pertaining to B12 deficiency. Typically the articles are not very good, misrepresenting some things, wrong about other things, and so forth. So I was surprised today when I saw one that is not so bad. Sure, it could be better, could be more

Iron plus zinc better for iron deficiency anemia
reading about zinc I came across the following article. I mean it focuses on chronic kidney desease but I found this gem of info stating that zinc combined with iron is better than iron alone. Now I'm not iron deficient. But I thought this might be interesting for those who are. Beware too much zinc

I have RLS and recently updated iron labs revealed the following: Ferritin=59.2ng/mL & Transferrin Saturation = 53%.
I have been taking oral iron supplements (Iron sulfate 325mg) and Vitamin C 200 mg daily on an empty stomach but the ferritin has been going up but slowly but the transferrin saturation has gone up much higher. Should I continue with my iron supplements?

carbimazole and iron supplements
hi all, I have very low ferritin and need to supplement iron. Do I need to take my carbimazole away from iron or it doesn’t matter?

Help Needed! Have I got Pernicious Anaemia?
I hope this isn't too long and/or too boring. I suspect I have PA but as with a lot of people here, no-one seems to take B12 deficiency seriously. I also have hypothyroidism so as my symptoms got increasingly worse over the past few years, I blamed my thyroid - the two conditions have many symptoms

Why would Active B12 blood test not be recognised by GP when I have lots of symptoms?
I had previously had a blood test for B12 which was apparently normal if a little low. I was told that no treatment was required.I continued to have most of the symptoms of a B12 deficiency so after 4 months and some research I paid for an Active B12 test which showed I was low. I took this to my doctor

Advice moving forward?
So I recently had blood tests that showed low b12, iron and vit D. Was prescribed tablets for the iron and vit D. And put on a course of B12 loading doses. 6 injections over 2 weeks. it's now been 2 weeks after the last b12 injection and none of my symptoms have improved. When I talked to the gp,

B12 deficiency v. Ferritin deficiency
Hi everyone. Some of you may have come across one of my posts this week and may have interacted, but if not, hi 😊 I’ve been going through a lot of the posts on here looking for answers to my query before I post this, but haven’t seen anything that covers it. Is there anybody here that has suffered

Oral B12
So i am fully aware that those of us with PA don't absorb b12 through our diets, and that we ideally require treatment through IM injections. But i have also seen articles that suggest that it is at least 'possible' to get 'some' b12 from oral supplements. What do we think about this? I have copied in

Hi, I've posted about Care Opinion before but look every now and then to see if any stories have been posted about B12 deficiency. They want people to share good and bad experiences of health care in UK. Sometimes the GP surgeries
