Iron Infusions - the type of iron used may matter.
Here is a rather long and confusing article. Read it if you need to be lulled to sleep. https://journals.physiology.org/doi/full/10.1152/japplphysiol.91076.2008 In it I found a ridiculously interesting paragraph as follows: "Deficits in regional brain iron and changes in uptake and efflux of brain

Just another quick q re my earlier post and the relationship between ferritin and serum iron
When my serum iron was lower my ferritin was higher and when serum iron was higher ferritin was lower. Is this coincidence or significant? Thanks

B12 deficiency - Mood disorder in a teenager
I have been looking at articles on B12 deficiency and mental health and thought this one was interesting. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3404901/ Apologies if it's been posted before.

Does anyone know why the NHS is telling GPs not to test Vit D levels anymore?
I saw my GP today. He was quite happy to give me a blood test request form that says that my thyroid, Vit B12 and folate should be tested. But even though my most recent Vit D test results - 3 years ago - were low, said he wouldn’t ask for Vit D test for me because GPs are being asked not to measure

B12 Injections: do they cure Pernicious Anemia?
Hi, I have just been diagnosed with PA, related to vitamin B12 deficiency. My GP has prescribed a course of vitamin B12 injections (12 over the next month followed by a quarterly booster). I would be interested in hearing from you if you have had the course. Did it cure your Pernicious Anemia?

B12 now back to 'Normal'.
A few months ago I became very ill and after a series of blood tests was found to have very low B12 levels. I had all the symptoms of B12 deficiency/Pernicious Anaemia. My doctor prescribed Cyanocobalamin 1mg per day. After taking this for two months blood tests show that my B12 levels are now close

Iron blood test
I've ordered a full iron panel test from medichecks, but just wondering presumably I should stop my b vitamin complex a week ahead, but what about my iron supplements? Should I stop these as with any thyroid test?

B12 stores in your liver
Can anyone advise or send me to research papers or pertinent information on what b12 levels are stored in the liver of people with pernicious anaemia? An average adults body is supposed to require 2.4mcg of b12 daily, where does the excess go from a 1000mcg b12 injection? Hoping you can help. Thank you

Low serum B12 but high Active B12 (HoloTC) - confused!
I just picked up 5 years worth of blood test results (frustrated with being in the dark about results all the time) and checked out my latest results. For reference, I'm in Australia. On my most recent test on 16th July 2021 (before any B12 supplementation): Total B12 is 250 pmol/L Active B12 (HoloTC

Advice on next steps
I’ve had issues with burning, numb, tingling hands and feet on and off since my second child was born 3years ago. Also worsening fatigue and aches. X2 b12 tests showed within range, upper 300’s. However I was taking a breastfeeding multi vit at the time. Was told it was “burning foot syndrome” (bvits

How long before an oral B12 tablet affects your Active/Serum B12 level?
Assuming for a moment that you don't have PA, and that you can successfully absorb oral B12 tablets like a healthy person (who may just have a very poor diet): 1) How long does it take an oral B12 tablet to be absorbed, such that it raises an Active B12 blood test result (or failing that, a Serum B12

Serum B12 result
Hello , I finally have had the GP test after the low active B12 test at 62 from medichecks. It says B12 - 381 range 120-625 Folate 11.8 Ferritin 93 range 11-307 So I’m thinking my symptoms are menopausal now rather than B12 but what do you think about these results please ?

Vitamin B12 deficiency?
I have been feeling very unwell for about 3 weeks with dizziness, headaches, fatigue, weakness and in the last few days twitching muscles and blurry vision. Having hypothyroidism, I thought my levels must be out however my recent blood test (last week) suggests not: TSH: 1.48 (0.30 - 4.20) Ferritin:
