Hi I was diagnosed with osteoporosis in February this year after having a bone density scan. I was just about to start taking ibandronic acid when I found out I had colorectal cancer so I was worried about side effects of the ibandronic acid and didn't take it until November.I was given an ileostomy for a short while and the had stoma reversal in October.I am now Cancer and free but in September I had pain in my upper back and was diagnosed with 4 compression fractures due to the osteoporosis. I am now waiting for an MRI to see if they have healed or not.If they have healed I can have bone cement inserted in to my vertebrae but if not I just have to manage the pain. I find mornings are the worst as I can't hold myself up to get washed and my husband has to do all the housework at the moment. I am hoping the pain will ease off in time. I currently take oxycodone for the pain. I was wondering if anyone has flown long haul with compression fractures as I am due to fly to Cancun Mexico in June for the holiday I had to postpone because of my cancer . My consultant said it was okay to fly but would be uncomfortable and I would have to manage my pain.I would appreciate any advice for comfortable flying thanks.

Just Diagnosed
Lovely trip to look forward to. My only suggestion would be flying either 1st class or premium economy, depending on airline. With the seating you would hopefully be able to take a pillow to use for support and walk around to stop stiffening up. Food is good as well. Was upgraded on one flight, what a difference. Have a good time.
