Hyperfibrinogen & ADT
New study [1] below. I recently posted a paper on the role of platelets & abnormal coagulation factors in metastasis. The current paper looks at fibrinogen. In the coagulation cascade, platelets clump together to form a plug, & fibrin is deposited around it to form the body of the clot. This can happen

Miracle Gel That Conquered One Woman's Arthritis
I just read this and it may be a lot of whooey but worth a try. This woman had terrible arthritis in her knees and, after trying Flexiseq, she now can walk miles without pain. Oh wouldn't it be nice if it were true? The results from 6 different clinical studies involving 4,000 patients found that

Gout and prostate ca
http://www.hindawi.com/journals/mi/2015/680853/ Any other members with prostate cancer also suffer from gout? Had first flare of gout at age 39 and diagnosed with prostate cancer at 44. Gout appears to be a risk factor for cancer, particularly prostate cancer. See link. Other research concurs.

Morning lovely people. I have been on aziathoprine for 4 weeks and am on hydroxy. Indometacin and prednisone. The last few days I have been suffering from bouts of lightheadedness where I find myself having to grab something or I stumble a bit. Most of my symptoms are under control with the meds and

Fibrinogen
New Shanghei study below. The formation of a clot involves (a) the clumping of platelets around the wound, & (b) the action of thrombin on fibrinogen to produce fibrin, the substance of the clot. Fibrinogen would seem to be a fairly benign entity. It requires thrombin to turn it into a clot. LabCorp

Irregular heart beat
My husband has had Parkinsons for 6 years. He takes Sinemet and entacapone. Shortly after taking his medication (every 3hours) he feels very weak . When I check his BP it is often very low and shows "irregular heart beat" I feel it is the medication rather than "off" time. I don't often contribute to

Not catching up
Forgive me, dearfolk, but I haven't got it in me to go back and catch up on all the posts. I'm out of hospital as of yesterday, and I see my psychiatrist tomorrow. I've started taking cisamet (also called nabilone and something even more unpronounceable) and it's working on my pain. I'm a little floaty

Knowledge is Power: understanding our medications.
Since having PD I have become just a little obsessed with reading and understanding all I can about it and this is a bit of what I have learned. I hope it is useful to somebody. I was going to put some of this in a reply post but it is general information. It is not meant to be advice about your

Paraffin wax
Hi all, Can anyone recommend a good paraffin wax machine to use as a form of therapy? I have been told that it can help with pain and swelling and provide some comfort.

Still moving forward at GP Practice!
Had to go to see about when to take my Gout tablets as the AB's for the lung infection has done its job at last. I am showing a good O2 at the surgery so they are happy. Until I throw in the fact that once I go out in the cold I am struggling and I still cannot do anything above making a hot drink

I think I have changed practices?
Had to get an emergency appointment last night as my AB was going to run out and I was feeling no better. The gout is refusing to go just to keep me off my toes, but the arcoxia that gets rid of it gives me a gooey chest so I made the educated decision to keep off them. Only a 30 minute wait from my

Anyone taking inosine now and not waiting for trials?
Hi. A query about taking inosine to boost low uric acid levels in people w/early stage PD as a way to reduce symptoms and gain some neuroprotection. Phase III trials coming next year (link below) With inosine available OTC for a pittance there’d been some discussion here about trying it now and not
