As I posted earlier my husband is suffering from CKD3 with GRF 50 and creatinine 1.4.
Cause: long term hypertension but well controlled with medication.
Eating routine!
Breakfast:
Fresh juice of beetroot, carrot, apples, pomegranate and strawberries.
He takes two Egg whites with lots of vegetables (no salt) and homemade bread 4 times a week and take oats , cereal for the rest of three days and a cup of tea.
Luch And Dinner:
He eats three times chicken in a week, two times vegetables , meat and lentils for the rest of two days( again no salt).
He takes fresh bowl of salads ( capsicum onoin, raddish, celery, cucumbers, chickpeas). And another cup of tea with no sugar.
Lots of water. Excercise 30 minutes 5 days a week.
Nephrologist also give him fish oil tabelets.
He is 39 and weighs 79.
Please suggest some good advices and where we are lacking.
We are waiting for his next labs due in April.

It looks like you are making a good effort to eat healthily. There is no specific renal diet as such as advice will vary depending on many factors. Here are a few excellent resources for more dietary advice and you may find something helpful that you can use, two from the UK and one from the US:
a lot of precision gone into his eating habits from what i have experienced im stage 4 gfr25 dont think drs nephrologist are really worried at the stage your husband is at ,but this is just my experience sorry
Actually you will read a lot of information on the "recommended diet for CKD" on the internet. And of course in general most of the information is correct. HOWEVER it is not one size fits all. For example you can read advice to limit Potassium. But this can be carried too far. People with high bp, or black, etc., Potassium intake should be higher than a person without these conditions. (still not to excess of course). Your diet should be based more upon your testing results (urine, blood) and other conditions, than just a one size fits all. For example, I have stage 3b CKD. You will read that such a person should avoid yogurt as it is a high potassium food. However, in my case my doctors recommend at least one yogurt a day, or two. For calcium and potassium and other benefits. Why? Because my blood tests indicated I was too low in those categories. If you have protein in urine you need to avoid excessive protein intake. If not, you still should limit protein. Of course some things to avoid in general are correct. Beef, soda, alcohol, excessive salt, etc. In the end all my doctors come to one conclusion. Avoid what I just mentioned and keep all other intakes within the daily recommended values. And that an occasional day here or there giving yourself a treat (a steak, a soda, that egg with yolks included) is NOT going to cause immediate harm to your kidney nor your bp.
Your husbands diet is almost healthy for the kidneys.
But when you are giving him beetroot, carrot or pomegranate juice you are loading up his kidneys with high potassium intake. High potassium at this stage is bad for both his kidneys and heart. The kidneys (that are impaired) cannot work well or fast enough to eliminate those potassium from the body at the normal rate. Build-up of too much potassium in the blood is harmful for the kidneys and dangerous for the heart. Though potassium intake does help in reducing blood pressure, but your husband is on medication for his BP control.
Also lentils are loaded with very high level of potassium and phosphorous. Both a no no for impaired kidneys.
A little bit of salt is good for the human body as it helps the kidneys and the glands to produce the required electrolytes in order to maintain a healthy body muscle tissues. No salt is a myth and also the doctors recommends to "limit" sodium intake not eliminate it completely.
Watch the sugar content of the juices as well as the white breads. Hidden high sugar items. Make sure to reduce animal proteins as much as possible and use vegetable protein in its place. Beef and pork are poison in my mind. Greens, greens and more greens. Of course work with a clinical Nurtionlist if possible to polish this diet for his specific body chemistry. Each one of us is slightly different. But what your doing is very close to what I do. I have lost 37.5 pounds thus far over 6 months. I feel great and I’m in balance. I took up meditation and yoga as well to reduce my anxiety. I’m trying to go completely vegetarian. Many Juices are filled with hidden sugar as well as breads. Read all labels, no processed foods or meats. God bless, stay in the fight!
