BC Update with GP.
First I rang Macmillan and they thought it very odd my cancer had gone from high to low. So rang my consultants secretary and she was not there, the people in charge said they were not qualified to help. I saw my GP today and like myself had a letter with no details at the top, this matters because

Starting treatment soon.
First of all, I'm hep c positive, diagnosed decades ago. Everything has been 'good' until recently. I had some bloodwork done about a month ago. My liver enzymes spiked (they've always been good), so my GI doctor ordered a fibroscan. The result was a 13, so I was diagnosed as F3 via the scan. Since

Yearly flu jab
Presume people who are on immunosuppressants have taken the yearly flu jab and it has been largely uneventful?

Update on shingles vaccine
I said I would let you know how I went on with the shingles vaccine. I had the vaccine two weeks ago tomorrow. I had a lovely nurse who was very friendly so I felt I could chat to her. I wanted to confirm that I was having the non live vaccine and she said yes, I'll go and get it out of the fridge. When

Shingles vaccination and PCa progression?
Hi everyone, I am planning to get Shingles vaccine, but afraid from the consequences. Gleason score 9 (4+5) Radical Prostatectomy 2017 > BCR 2019 SRT 8 weeks + Firmagon 6 injections (over 6 months). G 9 recurrence is inevitable (as we all know) so I am scared to take the Shingles vaccine. Any one

Measles resurgence: Is it a cause for concern?
Recent headlines have highlighted concerns of a resurgence in measles cases across the UK and especially in London. We asked our paediatric medical advisor, Dr Gavin Cleary, Consultant Rheumatologist at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, whether parents/carers of a child with JIA should be concerned or taking

A Week of Test and Scans (Well, almost)
I had a Heart scan yesterday, a Liver blood test today, and a Liver scan tomorrow. Then I sit back and wait to hear what they say. I never worry about any of it. I get on with my life and do whatever they ask of me. I know very little about my results numbers. I let the consultants, Liver nurses and

Shingrix vaccine
I am on Ibrance and letrozole, my primary has suggested I get the shingles (shingrix) vaccine. I will be speaking to my oncologist later this week. In the mean time I wondered if any of you ladies have had the vaccine, and did you have side effects. Years ago my husband had shingles vaccine & ended up

another cover booster
Hi i am a bit worried about having my 5th booster for covid on 22nd /6/23 because my consultant said something happened last November to make my c.k.d. worse . the only thing that changed was my cover and flu jab. He said he couldn't for sure say it wasn't the cover booster that caused it but he feels

I am 73 and have been invited for a shingles vaccination. I have PMR and Hashimotos thyroiditis and have had severe reactions to previous Covid jabs such that my consultant advised me not to have any further boosters. Does anyone have any advice or experience to share regarding the Shingles jab? I know

An indicator in the blood could guide lupus treatment

Shingles Vaccine
I am going for a shingles vaccination on 29th June. I know there has been information about it on here before but I can't find it. I know I need the Shingrix vaccine and believe that you need a 2nd one 2 months later. I would like to hear about your experiences of Shingrix. . Of course, I have googled

Sanofi vaccine and shark liver oil
I don’t think this has been posted before but the fact Sanofi is for over 75s makes sense if the shark oil is an immune booster and apparently is also given in the flu vaccine for the over 75s. I wonder if those with fish allergies/vegans were aware, but thinking people have probably had it and been

Prophylactics
Hi I have been on Acalabrutinib for two weeks now along with prophylactics, one being Co trimoxazole , which I seemed to react to. I have now been offered Pentamidine, which I have read up on and don’t like the sound of plus it does not sound as if it protects as well. Is anyone else on these drugs

B12 self injection
So we ordered some panpharma b12 injections which arrived yesterday. My partner has a b12 level of 123 with neurological symtoms and gp refuses to treat. I just got my results from my b12 test result last week a level of 202 which gp said was normal. Maybe this was abit stupid but as I have symptoms
