I am on Ibrance and letrozole, my primary has suggested I get the shingles (shingrix) vaccine. I will be speaking to my oncologist later this week. In the mean time I wondered if any of you ladies have had the vaccine, and did you have side effects. Years ago my husband had shingles vaccine & ended up getting shingles!
Thanks
Ellen

Actually rare and not the only thing to cause deactivation.
”The risk of developing shingles was calculated as 0.20% and 0.11% for cohort I and cohort II, respectively.
Conclusions: Consistent with the hypothesis, a higher incidence of HZ was statistically detectable post-COVID-19 vaccine. Accordingly, the eruption of HZ may be a rare adverse drug reaction to COVID-19 vaccines.
Note that VZV reactivation is a well-established phenomenon both with infections and with other vaccines (i.e. this adverse event is not COVID-19-specific).”
I got mine. Didn't experience any side effects from it. But, even if I did... I would still do it all over again. I've known a few people with Shingles and I certainly don't want to go through THAT!
staying up to date on all your vaccines is one of the most important things you can do to stay well…they keep you safe from diseases that can decimate your already compromised health…no issues with shingrix for sure!
Of course!😄 Everyone is different and may have mild to more obvious symptoms...I know that I had elevated tumor markers after a series of vaccines in the fall...others have remarked about that as well. Muscle aches, and discomforts are also among the things I may have felt...but all well worth the price for sure! Best wishes!😍
Thank you to all of our sister/warrior replies😇. I have been dragging my feet on getting the shingles vaccine. I have some severe allergies🙄, I had some really horrible reactions to all 3 Covid vaccines🤨. I didn't tell anyone except my closest loved ones. At every Covid shot I had to have a nurse, and EMS personnel present in a back room on a stretcher to administer the shots😳. I had to bring my Epi-pen. I was told by my Dr. to take a Claritin /Zyrtec before my next 2 Covid shots.I had to have a loved one come with me, and escort me home after my vaccines😳. I haven't taken a flu shot in over 35 years. I have no problem taking the pneumonia shot, which my Allergy Dr. agrees with me.😇. I was allergic to all 2 anesthesia medications that were given to me during 2 of 4 surgeries. My last 2 surgeries had to be performed while awake with the hospitals Chief Anesthesia Dr. present for the entire surgery.😇 I don't have to worry about Grand Mall Seizures. anymore. All I can say is, I thank the GOD that I serve Amen!
I've not had any problems with any vaccine since being in treatment for MBC. My husband had shingles years before we met and says it was the worst ailment he ever had. He's a retired policeman who's had many injuries and says it was worse than broken fingers, facial lacerations and bruises, etc.
I have not had any problems with vaccines either. My husband had the zostavax vaccine and ended up with shingles. It was right at the time he was scheduled for hip surgery, so of course surgery was delayed. I am hopeful with Shingrix since it is not a live vaccine. But still wanted to be prepared if others suffered any side effects. Scheduled to get the vaccine this Friday
