Private Hearing Aids?
Hi I recently had a private hearing test and tried out two new hearing aids at The Hearing Clinic UK. I could hear the consonant sound 'th' for the first time in years and my own voice sounded much better. It normally sounds stretchy and tinny with my NHS hearing aids. I have sensorineural hearing loss

Ibrutinib - Septrin
Had a face to face with my haematologist today, first time in 2 years. One point of conversation was that patients on Ibrutinib are now recommended to a received Septrin (cotrimoxazole) or a pentamidine nubliser. Any one else in the UK received the same advice or on Septrin/Cotrimoxazole.

Hearing loss and Lupus
Hi all. I am just wondering if anyone with lupus have any issues with their hearing. My GP thought during recent continuous flares this is affecting my hearing. I went for a hearing test and was told I had 40% less hearing and I could either buy a hearing aid for £500 or get referred to GP. I went for

MCAS specialist in London?
I’m still struggling with pain in my ears and deafness. I’ve not been able to get on top of my Mast Cell attack. My GP is useless. I’ve got an appt at the hospital for hearing test but it’s way off. I had a mast cell attack on my bladder that lasted years and ended up having DMSO treatment. My ears feel

Questions for Audiology & ENT
Hi All, I was lucky enough to have an audiology appointment last week for my hearing aid. As I have had T and hearing loss for some time I have had a few audiology appointments so I am posting some of the questions I prepared beforehand in case they are of any use to others who have their 1st appointment

Is Tinnitus consistent?
Hi, I hope you all doing well. I am am bit frustrated today. My T has been so good for the last week or so, really down to level where I can quite easily manage it. I have felt really good. But today, after some exercise and a shower, suddenly I get this very strong pressure/blocked feeling in my right

Hello My name is Ian and I'm 52. Just joined today looking for some support and hope. My tinnitus started 2 montgs ago, I think as a result of hearing loss due to hammering without ear defenders, although it was a couple of months afterwards that the tinnitus started. I also still have ear discomfort

GI bleeds
Possibly all due to the portal vein thrombosis she suffered from nearly 3 years ago when her GP would not continue the
heparin
after her Splenectomy when the supply we brought back with us from France ran out, she was just told to have an aspirin a day six days later she had her first massive gi bleed

Newborn failed hearing test twice and now referred to the audiologist….scared!
Hello ladies, my miracle daughter arrived on Friday 30th July and failed two hearing screening tests performed the day after on Saturday and today again on Tuesday. She was born via c section and I understand that this problem is quite common in babies born that way due to fluid in their drums. We have

First Ablation Yesterday
Having been given
heparin
during the procedure, I looked like Countess Dracula and despite this, I was told I still had to take my own Apixaban at 6pm.

Tinnitus on both ears with different noises?
Hi all, I wonder if anyone else has a tinnitus that comes and goes in one ear, giving a vibrating noise, almost as if the ear is fluttering/contracting? Mine is very inconsistent and when it comes, I’m completely dependent on brown noise sound machines to cope with it. The right ear gives a soft ringing

A DJs Story.
For as long as I can remember I’ve loved music, it fills my heart with joy. I love all types but especially house/dance music, I was a teenager during the early 90s when the scene exploded and became something fresh and new. In my early 20s I learned to DJ - all vinyl and I loved it, I became very good

New here! How normal is this?
I was diagnosed with a bacterial middle ear infection after I started getting persistent ear ringing for a few days. This was diagnosed over the phone by an ENT doctor so it's possible that I didn't actually have the infection. I was prescribed amoxicillin. Is it normal for the ringing to persist even

Six transfers, had successful implantation twice, will ERA test be a waste of money? What else should I try?
Diagnosed with anticardiolipin antibody (been on
heparin
in my last three transfers) and with slightly raised anti-TPO antibody (been on Levothyroxine in my last two transfers). I am now wondering whether I should invest in an ERA test.
