Heparin

The night after my surgery, a nurse should have been giving me a heparin infusion, I had s plan and this was on it. She came, hooked me up, I sat there and asked her if it was the heparin. She said no, it was tranexamic acid and it’s used to control the bleeding.

I followed all the instructions, came off my warfarin and did the heparin injections, got to the hospital and no one had read my notes. There was no local anaesthetic available so no biopsy done. Now I have to wait for a case conference for them to decide the next step.

Today they gave me heparin after treatment as my CVC has been clotting and the doctor prescribed it. I've never used it so wonder what some others who do have experienced? I have surgery scheduled Apr 1 and don't know when or it I need to not have it before.

If you have this during all pregnancy you need to take heparin injections in your stomach to make your blood thick. I didn't have any symptoms during the pregnancy. Just happened. Maybe some of your misscariage can be because of this and you don't know that you have this like me.

He did a heparin dwell directly into the catheter and said he will return next day to see if that opened it up if there was a clot.

They didn’t control my pain early on, and the nurse almost gave me an infusion of tranexamic acid instead of heparin after the operation. I found out that tranexamic acid controls bleeding by stopping blood clots from breaking up, which could have been fatal to me.

Went home from hospital after a week of being treated with heparin and eliquis with an INR of 1.4. I continued eliquis for a month before my Pulmonologist moved me to warfarin. I was on warfarin for 3 days when I was back in the hospital with a few new PEs.

They want to avoid raising the heparin amounts during dialysis, and I'm in total agreement with that. And now, my nephrologist wants to send me to the vascular clinic for CT of the vein downstream of my fistula. I've already had two fistulagrams, for those of us keeping score.

I’m aware of my issues regarding medication ie allergy to warfarin but ok with heparin and have opted for an epidural but my concern is with the implant itself being rejected. thank you.

The doctor started me on heparin and did a procedure to break up the clots in the lungs (I forgot the name of the procedure) LOTS of blood work was done and the doctor said I was triple positive for APS. I ended up getting released from the hospital a few days later on Eliquis.

I had heparin injections whilst pregnant but told I wouldn't need anything afterwards. Now I've been retested by GP and still have antibodies, so been referred to Haematology (18 week wait).

If you are on anticoagulants what platelet numbers do you have? Are any of you also on hydroxycarbamide too?

On heparin and aspirin just to cover bases. Still having the losses - gets diagnosed on early scan due to the previous ectopic , just empty gestational sac this time, previous there was yolk sac and the other 2 were ?ectopic.

I'm due to have chemo next week and am petrified of the heparin lock being out in when I'm finished the infusion. Any info / advice would be most welcome. Ann

I've been through many tests, and it seems I have a few conditions to do with blood clotting, so I am to go on progesterone, heparin and aspirin as soon as positive test. But that positive which seemed to come every few months last year, stopped since August. To be fair, we didn't try Aug-Nov.

I've been taking most of the previous meds after I got my trigger shot, with a small exception; I no longer take Duphaston and I got given Heparin shots. The waves of anxiety, panic, anger, sleepless nights and random cry episodes are just something else.

In 2007, I recovered from several months in hospital with hypoxia and very severe chest pain only when I was put on heparin.

The doctors will have to avoid using heparin on him. What little data there is indicates heparin usage causes a fierce reaction.
