I had a review of my deteriorating hearing today following my earlier hearing tests and an MRI at Addenbrooke's five weeks ago. Today was actually an appointment with the audiologist for review of my hearing aids but she kindly popped round to the medics to see what the state of play is with the MRI results. It seems that I do have an AN albeit she was unable to give me any more details - it seems that a consultant appointment will be forthcoming in due course. It seems a strange way to go about things but at least it is some diagnostic progress.
My left ear seems to be completely shot and I went in with two hearing aids and came out with just one new one. The left aid seemed to be adding distortion to the mix without contributing any improvement in hearing.
My new HA is an Oticon Engage 105. Early days, but I'm not too impressed that the tube is simply a push fit into the aid. I've already rubbed my ear a couple of times and had the two part company with the inevitable result that the aid falls to the floor. Fortunately I was at home at the time.
Any comments on any of the above would be very welcome!
