thyroid problems and diabetes
that showed an increase in
Hba1c
(42 mol) which I have not got a clue about, I have asked at the surgery if the thyroid issues and diabetes are connected in some way and have been told no.

Steroid dependency and Prediabetes
so - - saw my GP about a raised HBA1c which means I am pre-diabetic and her advice about diet is useless as I TRULY could not reduce/exclude anything more, so that leaves 1. genetics, which I cannot change and 2. upping exercise, which is, as you all know, not easy but hey - ho - off I go. AND then

Low Serum Folate
Most recent blood
test
shows
HbA1c
has dropped to 42 but pretty concerned with the low folate level. Is this anaemia? Will a B Complex vitamin help this?

I am down to 2mg prednisone. Not noticing typical PMR symptoms
After I got on Methotrexate and Hydroxychloroquine, the right hand wrist and finger swelling went away, and I was able to start dropping pred from 5 to 4 to 3 to 2 now. While I am glad for this, I am mad that only a rheumy was smart-experienced enough to think of it, I likely could have saved months

GP medical records
Finally got round to requesting medical records, used the proforma mentioned on here and for the life of me can't remember which post it was on and who told me about it. Went and handed it in yesterday. Also did the BlueHorizon genetic tests sent back the 21st, so a while to wait yet. Still wondering

Tapering - have I got it wrong?
Hi. I am a new member and this is my first post. Diagnosed with PMR in March 2023, started on 15mg of pred on 31st March. It worked like a dream and within 48 hrs, my pain was down 70% and my energy was up 70%. I felt fantastic and within a month started slowly to increase my level of exercise and activity

What I learned about steroids and blood sugar levels from wearing a continuous glucose monitor (CGM) on the ZOE program
I’ve just finished using a CGM for 2 weeks as a paying participant in the ZOE study, which I mentioned in a previous post: https://healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk/posts/149526653/ive-signed-up-for-tim-spectors-zoe-study-looking-at-blood-sugars-and-gut-health Many PMR and GCA patients, self-included, have

Update and no news from hospital
It's been a few weeks now since I embarked on my calorie deficit healthy eating and coffee journey. I had a birthday in June and I did say bad eating for a week. Well in turned into 2 ½ weeks as I was taken out by friends several times. However, I have now lost 10kg. I am so happy with this progress.

HbA1c
Has anyone heard of or have knowledge about B12 deficiency, folate/iron deficiency affecting Hba1c results and causing raised levels? I was extremely surprised when my Hba1c levels came back high pre diabetic recently. I am about 6kg overweight at 67 but am very active taking several classes a week.

Fecal Microbiota Transplantation (FMT) For PD And Much Much More
While many of us are aware of the potential that FMT has shown for PD, Clostridium difficile (C. diff) and IBS that has not responded to standard therapy, I wrote this to highlight the fact that FMT has shown the potential to also help a multitude of other diseases and health issues that are often seen

Berberine and iron?
Hi, So glad to have found this wonderful forum! I am a 74 year female who recently started taking pregabalin for RLS. I just got back my ferritin level and it is 12. I will order some iron and would like to know how many mg is a good dose. Also, I started taking niacin 500mg daily for my cholesterol

iron and b12 test results
How am I doing with iron and b12? i posted before about my thyroid results and have reduced my Levo a tiny amount pending testing again in a few weeks time I now have the rest of my results (minus ferritin and folate ) from MMH. I can see that my iron and b12 are not dire but neither are they optimal

Tingling, light-headed, low BP - questions
Was feeling very well on 3mg for GCA/PMR... Have been below 5mg pred since last September. Ten days ago felt suddenly bloated, tingling in L cheek and toes (have experienced these before, usually higher doses pred). Next day occasionally pin-pricks in both legs and arms. Next day tingling and pins

Type 2 Pre-Diabetes Range
Hello I was diagnosed with type 2 Pre-diabetes about four months ago, given a diet sheet and advised to take my blood sugars (I bought an accu-check instant monitor). My HbA1c came back as 44 which I think converts to around 6.4 mmol/L or somewhere in that range. My average blood sugar pre and
