How long before an oral B12 tablet affects your Active/Serum B12 level?
Assuming for a moment that you don't have PA, and that you can successfully absorb oral B12 tablets like a healthy person (who may just have a very poor diet): 1) How long does it take an oral B12 tablet to be absorbed, such that it raises an Active B12 blood test result (or failing that, a Serum B12

Homocysteine after supplementation
Hello! Does anyone know how fast homocysteine levels are affected by supplementation? I took 1mg sublingual methylcobalamin a day for two weeks, then ceased using it for two weeks before testing (poor planing on my end i know). Both serum b12 and homocysteine levels tested normal. I know that serum b12

What can a do to help with a very sore tongue?
I was diagnosed with anaemia a few years ago and have B12 injections every 10 weeks. My folate levels were also abnormal but I don’t take anything for this. The last couple of months my tongue has started to get so sore down one side. I guess it’s related to PA and wanted to see if you had any suggestions

Iron blood test
I've ordered a full iron panel test from medichecks, but just wondering presumably I should stop my b vitamin complex a week ahead, but what about my iron supplements? Should I stop these as with any thyroid test?

Zinc carnosine
I would like to try zinc carnosine for my gastritis and heartburn but am worried it may give me restless legs. Does anyone have any experience of this. An extract reads Carnosine is a naturally-occurring compound made from the amino acids beta-alanine and histidine.

A bit about me
I worked in a Haematology laboratory for over 40 years until retirement. In that time I saw the introduction of automation into Blood Counting, Coagulation testing, and later, B12, Folate, Ferritin, Intrinsic Factor antibodies and Erythropoietin assays. In addition to routine laboratory work, I participated

NICE Guidance on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome delayed
Most of us here will know the life-draining fatigue that often accompanies systemic autoimmune conditions. Many will have co-diagnoses of CFS or ME. For a long time, people with ME/CFS have argued that these are "real", medical conditions, rather than the effects of psychological dysfunction or deconditioning
