Zinc carnosine

I would like to try zinc carnosine for my gastritis and heartburn but am worried it may give me restless legs. Does anyone have any experience of this. An extract reads Carnosine is a naturally-occurring compound made from the amino acids beta-alanine and histidine.

I've been taking it for nearly 2 weeks as I developed nausea and acid stomach. It hasn't made my RLS worse at all so I think it's safe.

Thanks. Has it helped you at all and can I ask what brand you are taking.

It does seem to have helped, but I also restarted my medical cannabis oil which also helps nausea. I bought Doctor's Best PepZinGI from Amazon Smile ( they make a donation to RLS UK with every purchase as I nominated them as my charity).

Hi Joolsg. I recently bought cbd oil for £30 to see if it helps my RLS but nothing as yet. Is yours any good?

Hi, Joolsg is referring to medical cannabis which requires a prescription.

People who are eligible can get a prescription by virtue of a project called "Project twenty21".

drugscience.org.uk/project-...

However, you then need to pay the full cost which is currently I believe at least £60 a month.

There is some scientific evidence that an appropriate formulation of cannabis derivatives can have an impact on anxiety, pain and sleep.

Commercially produced, over the counter "CBD oil" is an entirely different matter.

Unlike medical cannabis, there is a large variety of products labelled "CBD oil" all having different formulations.

The products that seem to be most effective as reported by members of this forum have a relatively high THC content. These are illegal in the UK.

My opinion is that you've probably wasted £30.

Mine is medical cannabis oil with 20%THC. Only available on prescription via drugscience.org.uk/project-...

It doesn't directly stop RLS but it puts me into a deep sleep for 3 hours and the RLS doesn't waken me.

Plain CBD oil never helped my RLS.

How my mg per dose Paul007. The dose is very important as often non prescription CBD is too weak to make any difference. You need at least 30-40mg per dose as a starter.

I have some current experience with heartburn. Always had it and taken antacids for it Eventually (age 75) it became a bigger problem and I finished up in emergency. They said they would have done an gastrophscopy on the spot except Covis was tieing up their capacity. I had examination by a private gastroenterologist. He said that there was some scarring on my esophagus and that this MIGHT be a precursor to cancer. I am now on some proton pump inhibitors which might be making it harder for my body to absorb iron but might stop more scarring. Gastro man says that even if the acid is not bad enough to cause pain it can be causing damage so I am getting my esophagus monitored. Covid is interrupting service but if it becomes urgent they can just do a bit of routine surgery and delete any affected part. If they find it early enough. I didn't ask how I know if something is going wrong if it's not causing pain. I think he would recommend regular gastrophscopy examination for older people. I think the last one cost me AUD500 for the hospital bed with everything else covered by my health insurance.

Makes me wonder how many regular checks you need to get done when you get really old.

I would be tempted to healing the gut I.B.S or leaky gut and good quality digestive enzymes to overcome heartburn. tweaking your diet,eg. i cannot tolerate anything with starch in it and had to go carnivore for a few months to heal my gut now looking at taurine and low glutamate diet which is helping good luck for the future
