Thyroid Hormone Use in Mood Disorders: Revisiting the Evidence
Discussion about using thyroid hormones in psychology and psychiatry is all too rare. For that reason, even short papers like this have their own value. It is not that there haven't been papers - but there aren't that many and, by the time we see them, they can appear as if they are historical documents

folate
Hi I’ve been on b12 injections for years now and I have them every 8 weeks, but the past couple of years the Drs have found I’ve had about 3 folate deficiencies, I take 3 months of folic acid and then told that’s all I need and then few months later might have an unrelated blood test and find I’m deficient

Some help with interpreting iron panel please.
My mum is supplementing with iron. Crp hs 0.48 (0-5) Iron 29,9 (5.8-34.5) Tibc 62.7 (45-81) Uibc 30.9 (24.2-70.1) Transferrin 47.5 (20-50) Ferritin 298.6 (13-150) It looks as though she should’ve stopped a while back. Any insight with what these numbers are now saying and mean would be helpful

diagnosed
Was originally diagnosed 8 years ago. I have not had injections for 2 years due to covid so asked GP to restart them but wouldn’t without blood test etc. blood test has come back saying b12 is normal and intrinsic factor is negative so he is saying I don’t have PA anymore? And therefore won’t treat me

Adrenals or Not Adrenals
Well, further to my post last week, I've had the results of both my faecal occult blood test (for new re-occurring digestive issues) and BNP blood test (for indications of heart failure) and all have come back normal with no further action required. The extreme fatigue has improved significantly

When blood tests don't show the reality in lupus
im sure there are so many of you who have blood test after blood test that doesn't show the true and complete picture of what is going on. GPs don't give me the actual numbers bc I'm medical, instead they say normal or satisfactory which to me mean very little. And is their normal my normal? I know

Waiting to see haematology and neurology privetly so don’t want to take too many more supplements

Iron panel results
In early Sept my ferritin came back: 25.9 (10-291) so I asked for an iron panel. I am a bit confused by the transferrin result as I have read that if low iron then transferrin should be high? Mine is below range. Oct 22: Ferritin: 28.9 (10-291) Iron serum: 13.7 (9-30.4) Transferrin: 2.42 (2.5

Is it all about the range?
Hi everyone I was just reading up on thyroid globulin antibodies as I had a test done by Medichecks in Aug 2022 which had me within normal range and I was wondering whether people without thyroid problems had these antibodies too.
Thyroid Globulin Antibodies (TgAb) 48IU/L (reference <115)

Extreme hair loss!
Hello, I just started 25mcg of levothyroxine 5 days ago (new to this). My hair has been dramatically falling out for a while now but from day 2 of taking Teva levothyroxine it became twice as bad!!! I stopped taking it today as I will have no hair left at this rate, but cannot get in touch with my GP

Low folate without anaemia?
Hi I’ve recently had some blood tests and it’s come back with a low folate level of 3.1 ug/l (range 3.9 - 20.0). My B12 was 429 ng/L MCV 97.2 (82 - 100) RBC 4.61 [4.5 - 5.9] My question is that as I don’t seem to be anaemic (well according to MCV / RBC anyway …), would I be likely to have any symptoms

My blood tests always haemolyse which is making diagnosis difficult
My London NHS haematologist strongly suspects APS with
haemolytic
anaemia
, after DVT in both legs and pulmonary embolism August 2020. I am currently on apixaban 5 mg twice daily.

Folate level
H i everyone, hope you are all well? I had my folate checked and my level came back as 2.9ng (3.1ng - 19.9ng reference range) Doctor said not to worry about it as it was only slightly under range. My question is even though I have B12 injections should my folate be in range and should the doctor

SERUM BLOOD TESTS
Good morning, I had a blood test 4/3/22. Just checked my results online. These were tested- Serum vitamin B12 level, Serum ferritin level , Serum folate level. The result is borderline & doesnt need any further action. Shall I contact the GP and follow it up?
