Long-Term Incidence of Secondary Bladder and Rectal Cancer in Patients Treated With Brachytherapy for Localized Prostate Cancer
Saw this on PracticeUpdate web site. There's been a lot of debate about RP vs RT (and still ongoing). Not trying to add fuel to the fire, but something to be aware and discuss with your MO/Urologist/Radiologist: "TAKE-HOME MESSAGE Patients undergoing radiation therapy for prostate cancer are at risk

ADHD in Teenagers
The most common behavior disorder among teens and childhood is the Attention Deficit Hyperactivity disorder or ADHD. Usually this disorder is detected during early childhood. However, to some it still has an effect on several teens. The early signs of ADHD in adolescents are lack of paying concentration

Lack of understanding from others

I find that women that I speak to in day to day life do not understand what I have been through, am still going through and what

Protocol; genetic testing
Hello it's me again! I hope so many questions is not bothering anyone. I have an active mind, especially since having seen so many things overlooked in the past two years. I'm just wondering if anybody knows at what point a blood test is given for hypercalcemia in advanced lung cancer spread to bones

How does CAG length tract effect Ataxia symptom onset
The instructions our bodies need to grow and function are contained in our genes. These instructions are made up of tiny structures called nucleobases. There are four types of nucleobases in DNA: adenine (A), cytosine (C), guanine (G), thymine (T). By putting these four nucleobases in different orders

What is the best place to get genetic testing
I’ve seen 2places mentioned for genetic testing on this forum. Is one of them better than the other? I had a bone biopsy done at MSKCC back in November but have not gotten the results back yet. It was supposedly done at MSK and not at either of the ones mentioned in posts here. Has anyone used MSK and

When is it not Parkinson's disease?
I see so many people here on HU asking about their progression and if it's normal. I believe that PD is used as a garbage can when the diagnosis is uncertain and the patient demands and answer from the doctor. Later, when there is a poor response to drugs, people start to question their diagnosis. There

Test Results - good news for now
I saw my haematologist this afternoon to get the results of my genetic testing and bone marrow tests. The good news is that I do not have any of the mutations or genetic markers. However, my bone marrow did indicate an increased number of megakaryocytes (elevated platelet count has been my ongoing issue

Teachers going back after holiday break
I am a special education teacher at an elementary school. The students I mainly work with have severe behaviors and mental health issues due to trauma. After a break I always feel anxious about going back. I love my kids and what I do but it can be very exhausting. Also, this is my last semester with

How can I help my son who wants to be estranged from the family.
I am at a total loss as to what to do. We have had a terrible Christmas. My 21yr old, autistic son(J) returned from Uni, initially spending a couple of days with his Grandmother before coming home on 19th. Grandmother and Grandson totally irritated each other and I was receiving nearly hourly messages

Genetic Testing in Australia
There’s lots of good information on this forum about genetic testing in the USA, but has anyone had genetic testing done in Australia? If so, where was it done? How much did it cost? Was any of the cost covered by Medicare or private health insurance? Was it germline or somatic? I’d really appreciate

How to help a loved one
This will be a long post but I’m completely lost at what to do. The girl I love and loved me has pushed me away because she’s depressed. I live in the US and she lives in the UK. We met when she had a bf but he was really abusive. For almost the last entire year we’ve been friends and I’ve tried to
