Request for advice looking for possible new diagnosis
Hi, this is my first time back on the forum after a few years break just bimbling along whilst struggling as we all do. But I've really hit a wall. I've also posted this on the Fibromyalgia and Lupus communities.I don't want to write too long a post so will try and keep the background brief. Basically

Low B12
My private blood test shows low B12 at 48.1 pmol/l. Is this something my GP should follow up with? I take daily B12 supplements but obviously this isn’t sufficient. Many thanks.

How Off Would Blood Levels Be If Tested Without Fasting Beforehand?
Hiya. I would appreciate thoughts on this. This morning I had to go for an Inflammatory Marker Blood test for something which isn't related to thyroid issues. Unknown to me, my GP had requested a thyroid blood test anyway so I wasn't prepared by fasting from my meds the day before, and I took a multivitamin

Advice for pelvic pain please!!
I'm a 29 year old female who has been suffering with issues with my bladder for around 5 years. I've not had any children and never been pregnant. 5 years ago I started getting re- occuring UTI's quite regularly and was referred to a urologist. I, then, started to get bladder incontinence- I was sent

A medical professionals responsibility
Last year before Christmas I had a routine blood test that showed a reduced platelet count. Went from 160 18 months ago to 139. I had been going though a period of very heavy drinking (day and night) in the two months prior to the test. I went to see the Doctor as he called and asked me to come in that

I have AF but it’s controlled so far with daily flecainide and bisoprolol. I get a three monthly blood test for iron overload but this week the doctor advised me to get a cholesterol blood test as well. All of my results for cholesterol were within the ranges but my doc advised that it’s recommended

blood tests
hi, had blood test results and they’re all abnormal. Speaking to GP on Monday but wondered if anyone knows if a CRP result of 11 indicates polymyalgia?

'Helpline' number - so this doesn't happen again
Diagnosed with Sjorgens July 2023 and I started hydroxychloroquine in August 2023. I was told to have monthly blood tests and they would see me in February follow up after six months. I've only just found out today that I was supposed to be calling a number after each blood test to inform nurses to look

Anaemia query
Is it at all possible to have some form of anaemia, even though blood results dont support that or are inconclusive? I havent felt well now for 4 years and have driven myself to distraction trying to pin down what is going on-convinced myself I was hypothyroid but Im not. Ive just had blood tests again

Near the end?
Hi, I'm Terry, male 75 yrs old and had never heard of PMR till I got it 2years ago. I had a fall, flat on my back and about 10 days later could hardly get out of bed. I suspected spine injury or bruising and struggled with it for about a month. Went to see osteopath who suggested I had PMR

Worth switching meds?
Hello friends, I've been on Hydroxy for just over 3 years and am on a small dose of 500mg/day. Platelets are normal but my big complaint is weight gain. I'm currently on the Alternate day or Up day/Down day plan to see if I can lose any weight. After 2 weeks I'm surprised to see a few kilos go 'into

Blood test time
Im having various blood tests done for balance problems but I can only get 9.20 appointment. If I want my usual early time 8 to 8.30ish its over 3 weeks wait and that will delay any treatment for the balance issues. Thyroid is included in the test and I don't want him to say he will reduce my levothyroxine

folic acid
Is there a good resource showing the need for good folate levels alongside B12 injections? I’m on 4-weekly B12 injections but my latest serum folate blood test is at the very low end of the range, but technically in range according to the NHS so ‘no action required’. It’s gone down while I’ve been
