ELF blood test
Hi I’ve just had a repeat ELF blood test ..3yrs since I had my first one 3yrs ago it was 10.00 this time it’s 9.8 so a slight improvement I think question is when Siemens say 9.8 is a high reading and NHS say refer to hepatology when 10.5 or higher is this something I need to be concerned about

Supplements to help liver
I had a blood test that showed raised ALT and then stopped drinking for 3 months and the repeat test had gone down to normal levels. I have heard that various things can help the liver, milk thistle, artichoke, dandelion etc. Is there any merit in any of these. I do not drink a lot but the occasional

Fibromyalgia A Living Nightmare
Hello 👋Sorry that the title of this blog sounds so blunt. I have tried all known medication from NHS and private pain specialist & sadly to say that there is no cure whatsoever. Fibromyalgia attacks the central nervous system in a manner beyond words. It's not just the agony of the pain and constant

DI02 Test advice please
Following a really useful twitter thread about the Deiodinase 2 gene and its effects on response to levothyroxine, I have ordered and received a saliva test for DIO2 but need to loop in a medical practitioner to receive the results. I have an appointment with my GP this week to discuss blood test results

I’ve never posted on here before as I’ve been really lucky with my surgery and treatment of my B12. However, on 05/01/24 I was informed that this would be my last injection, I would need a blood test to confirm if my injections were to be continued. Quite open about the fact that everyone in the surgery

Hyperthyroid update
Happy New Year, everyone! Since my last post, I received an appointment with my Endo department for this coming Thursday 11th. Since being put back on carbimazole and propanolol, my heart rate in particular is back to normal. I checked with the Endo department whether I needed a blood test beforehand

Recovery of Testosterone
We all have heard about how long it takes to recover testosterone after you stop ADT. You probably also heard how age affects recovery time. The older you are the longer it takes and the T may never recover. The type of ADT you take can also affect recovery time - shot versus pill. I am 78 and I have

PMR and new COVID mNRA vaccine
I was 1 month off prednisone in March 2021 when I received the second of two initial (Moderna) vaccines. PMR came back within a couple days; could not lift my arms or turn over in bed. I started back on prednisone sometime in April 2021 after blood tests showed elevated ESR and CRP. I’ve had no trouble

Annoyed!
After my previous post “Is this PMR or something else?” I went for another chiropractor appointment for my arm. Apparently it is a trapped nerve in my neck. A lot of manipulation which initially made it feel worse , but since then is slowly improving. An ice pack helps! Today I had a telephone appointment

Hospital Update
Hey All, Just an update. Spent the night in hospital with mum as she had severe chest pain when breathing in. Lots of scans and blood tests later we know the following; - pain is from fluid on the lungs, which has reduced (but still prevalent) since her last scan in September - she still has ascieties

Berberine and iron?
Hi, So glad to have found this wonderful forum! I am a 74 year female who recently started taking pregabalin for RLS. I just got back my ferritin level and it is 12. I will order some iron and would like to know how many mg is a good dose. Also, I started taking niacin 500mg daily for my cholesterol

Is evidence of AFib on ECG. The same as confirmed Afib
I was just wondering, if heart palpitations and evidence of AFib on the ecg. Is the same as confirmed AFib. I have had 3 episodes of heart palpitations, but still fighting infection from Ecoli and acute necrotising pancreatitis. Infection markers were well over 400 and now down to around 40 from last

Worried about blood
Hi all Since September ish I have been suffering with constipation. I went to my doctors and was prescribed laxido. This helped and I was able to go toilet with no pain. I stopped taking it as I didn't want to be dependant on it but the constipation returned. I do about 90% of the time have bright red

Update for my daughter re loading injections. and the rest.
My daughter has her appt with GP yesterday - she's 19 and although I was planning to go, had to agree when she said she wanted to do it on her own. Which I regretted! Here is the earlier thread which contains her results etc.: https://healthunlocked.com/pasoc/posts/149760385/daughter-starting-b12-

Further info on blood panel
Hello! I posted a couple of weeks back with some questions about low B12 investigations and was about to have a very full and detailed blood panel. I've got some further info from my blood tests. I don't have a copy yet, they're on the way, so I'll have to be vague about actual numbers for some of them

Angina, low dose aspirin
Was diagnosed with angina in 2022 stent fitted to LAD. Fast forward to now. Needing knee replacement, had a pre assessment appointment in december, went in thinking I would be offered surgery on jan. Blood test came back as low iron. Saw anesthetist who was happy regards heart but spoke to colorectal
