Ectopic Snowball Effect

Giving up hope
Morning everyone. This site is like a breath of fresh air. I had a big stomach operation when I was 28. I was told I would have pernicious anaemia because of my intrinsic factor. I had B12 every month and felt fine. About 4 years ago a young doctor told me after my routine annual blood test I didn’t

Vitamin B12 deficiency - Recently diagnosed
Hi there. I was previously in the Thyroid UK group but one member suggested me this forum because of my low Vitamin B12. I am a 33-year-old woman. I weigh 60 kilos (22,7 BMI), non-smoker, non-drinker. I have a pretty healthy lifestyle. My symptoms started almost 3 years ago. I have mistaken symptoms

Anyone had persistent chesty cough with meds or post stents?
Have had persistent chesty cough for 6 weeks with white mucus. GP prescribed antibiotics - nothing improved except blowing nose less. Now got nasal spray as diagnosed with post nasal drip but still as bad. Had 2 stents fitted Jan2022. On perindopril - taken for years, clopidogrel, aspirin and lanzaprozole

Pneumonia
About a week ago, dad started running a fever. They did some cultures and a sputum test. It came back that he had pneumonia and a UTI. So they started him on some antibiotics. He didn’t have much of a fever the last couple of days but then today he had another fever. It got as high as 101.8. His oxygen

Another Month ........ Another Fracture!🙄
I hope everyone is as well as can be expected? (Vain hope probably, but worth a try)!😉🤞Fingers also crossed for some nice bank holiday sunshine for everyone! (Cloudy here today). I posted in February about how I'd very stupidly fallen down a couple of stairs and suffered a periprosthetic femur fracture

Is it normal to feel super tired after injection?
Hi guys, I was recently diagnosed with PA following 2 positive intrinsic factor antibody tests. I had my first injection of B12 a couple of days ago and have felt super tired and a bit nauseous since. Now I feel tired anyway most of the time, but its been worse this last couple of days. Is this normal

Would appreciate any insight on this please. Am a newbie!
Positive for antibodies to Intrinsic Factor, extensive neurological involvement, but high active b12 - can anyone explain the latter? I have been supplementing for years with b12 spray, for years, on advice of functional medicine Dr. Many thanks in advance for your replies.

Cost of Tests
Can someone please tell me what it would cost to have Pernicious Anemia tests done privately? I had NHS bloods sent off a while ago and my GP told me they were all negative. When I asked to see the results she was reluctant to show me. I got to see them eventually and most of them were listed as '

Yippeeeee🤗
I haven’t run since 5th May, advised to stop by the doc whilst a small heart defect was investigated. I’ve been pretty down in the dumps since then. Walking about 6-7 km a day but it’s not the same and I’ve put on a kilo. Anyway, a chest X-ray has shown a normal heart and partially knackered lungs

Ferrous Sulfate gives me headaches
Hi, sorry if I've posted this in the wrong section as I dont have Thyroid problems. I've recently had a low iron deficiency confirmed and have been told to buy supplements and take them 3x a day. The chemist recommended Ferrous Sulfate 200mg. I have found that after taking just one I get an awful headache

Waiting for results… so anxious
Hi, I used to visit here when my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer when he was 53 sadly he passed when he was 56 :,( I now find myself in a very anxious situation, a few weeks ago my husband noticed I was coughing more. He insisted I see a dr, so 10 days ago I had a chest X-ray. I’m still waiting

Have UK ref ranges for ferritin changed?
Hi, I'm sure I read on the forum recently that UK ref ranges for ferritin have changed. Does anyone know if this is true? I can't find the post where it was mentioned so please post a link if anyone finds it or to other UK documents/guidance. Apologies if this is a false memory. I've found it... https

Platelet count high
Scared about high platelet count. I am 35, I have ulcerative colitis and rheumatoid arthritis. Since last November, I have had regular blood monitoring and a chest x ray. I have been on methotrexate since then and prednisolone for a year (5mg, now weaning off). My doctor always says my bloods are great

Declining b12
Hi all, since my last post my Medichecks active b12 came in at 39, which is borderline. Doctors retested my serum b12 and it has come down from 209 to 190, when I actually started taking supplements! I fought my GP and had an intrinsic factor antibody test today (haven’t taken b12 since April 27th so

Blood tests negative apart from ANA
I’ve posted a few times and appreciate all your helpful responses, so thought I would post one more time! I had follow-up appt after blood tests, but not with the lovely Rheumatologist I first met, instead it was with her registrar who wasn’t very interested in me now that all my tests were negative

Blood tests
I have Hashimotos, B12 Def, lichen sclerosis, GERD, Vit D Def, Diverticulitis and a ANA 1:80 Speckled pattern and had one appointment so far with a rheumatologist. I’m on the emergency list for a full hip replacement, which I’ll hopefully have done in Approx 4 months time. When the Pandemic hit, I

Iron panel, CRP, ESR?
Hi all, so after having a Medichecks full thyroid test in April my result were: TSH 1.39 mIU/L (0.27-4.2)F Freethyroxine 19.4pmol/l (12-22) Yesterday my GP repeated a TSH only test which came back as follows: 0.62 mIU/L (0.38-5.5). Could I be going slightly hyper now? I wasnt expecting the GP to repeat
