PV and fainting
hi all Hope you are taking care in this heat. I had a fainting episode at work today and wondered if there’s anything PV related. I’m aware it’s ridiculously hot and wondered if PV can impacts our capacity to manage heat ? I have been on aspirin and venesections last 6 years (annually for most

75mg Aspirin - Impossible to Open
In addition to my essential insulin I started regular medication about 20 years ago. First a low dose ACE Inhibitor then a statin and 75mg Aspirin. For many years the Aspirin came in small bottles of 100 before like everything else they came packed in foils. Sometimes foils can be tricky to open so

Aspirin the cat (a funny story from mom's work)
So mom is a pharmasist and she got too much aspirin and put some of it in a box and wrote "Aspirin". Her Boss took the box and used it for a cat's bed. Clients saw the cat in the box with written "Aspirin" thought it's the cat's name. So called the cat Aspirin. But the boss said this is not a good name

Is a normal lifespan possible for PV patients?
From our friends at MPN Forum Magazine. https://mpnforum.com/ The short answer is
YES - with proper management people with PV can live a normal lifespan.
Richard Silver et al have previously presented research indicating improved survival for people with PV when they receive appropriate treatment

Strange sensations
for some time (over a year) I’ve had sensations in my lowest part of my legs (mostly the front). It feels like I have sunburnt them, although I definitely haven’t. As I sit quietly nearly recovered from covid, I have been giving more thought to these sensations, and I’ve been inside constantly. These

what should hematologist prescribe?
So, after my excitement over getting the meds I realized that I had had a strange heart episode the night before (Monday night) and I had to take a high dose aspirin and a blood pressure pill to calm it down, which it did. However I noticed in the Manual Differential lab that the following showed up,

Good news
Morning all, Just wanted to share some good news 5 months post mitral valve repair. My latest echo showed an excellent result which is great news. So glad I went for it when I did and I feel very priveledged and lucky that the NHS were able to fix it so well. I'm now able to stop the bisoprolol and

Dx of PV confirmed
Hi all. So had phone call from my haematologist today to confirm a Dx of PV. I am off to sunny climates today for holiday so he has sent a letter to my GP to start me on aspirin when I return. Won’t see me again until planned Sept consult with him. Not sure when venesections will start, hopefully not

Latest Consensus on Omega-3, Aspirin & Curcumin?
So in finishing up my deep dive into supplements, these were the three I had the most trouble making any definitive personal conclusions about so I wanted to do a review before putting them to bed to get any last input. My general feeling is without well-designed long-term studies (not retrospective

Yes or no to Aspirin??
My husband is 35 years old fit and healthy he has been diagnosed with ET calr type 1. The haematologist at the NHS hospital said he doesn’t need to start any medication not even Aspirin but I went to see a private haematologist and he said I should take Aspirin. I’m so confused? Is there any risks taking
