Hi. I take it & am on Hydroxyurea & Eliquis & baby aspirin. My internist said it was fine but now that you’re asking I realize I should probably ask my MPN doc too. Maybe more folks will reply. Katie

Hi Katie, I started taking a collagen supplement only a week ago and it never crossed my mind to check if it’s ok to do so. It’s a natural product so didn’t think there would be an issue

I took a liquid supplement of collagen for only 3 weeks then stopped because the “raspberry “ taste was so off putting. I really dislike liquid meds/supplements! I had not “cleared it “ with my doc beforehand. No problems noted however.

I am taking a collagen supplement and suspect it’s ok after researching online. However, yes, always good to check with your med professional.

Hi Tina, always check with your haematologist before taking any medications, vitamins, supplements etc, so they can check that it is ok for you to take them. Best wishes, Maz

hi, I've just had my latest consult w/my haematologist and asked the very same question! her reply to me was that because there haven't been any studies done to check if it's ok - then I shouldn't... I take hydroxycarbamide, aspirin, warfarin, and lansoprazole. Reading the labels i think I'll be ok...going to give them a go for a month and see. Have ET with CALR. Have you started Tina?

I'll let you know how I get on! I've had a complex history, arterial blood clot to kidney, stroke and heart attack, 18 months ago now and have avoided any supplements of any kind. Feeling well despite all the meds so fingers crossed!

tina6, vitamin C is an important cofactor in collagen synthesis for maintaining connective tissue and blood vessels possibly offering a possible means for resisting ulcer development and bruising. It also induces JAK2 activation. Liposomal form of vitamin C delivery should be investigated for it's benefits. Aspirin can slightly lower the vitamin C level in the blood.
