Severe emphysema

Hello all,I joined this group 3 years ago after I did a breathing test at gp surgery and was told I have mild copd.

I wasn't referred to the hospital and because I have noticed my breathing alittle worse and changing GPS I been at long last referred to the hospital for a lung function test.

I saw consultant today and I am upset to find out I have severe emphysema according to my lung function test, she is sending me for a CT scan to check my lungs.

I thought severe emphysema I would really struggle to breathe and be on oxygen, I am working full time and walk daily. I am scared now and in shock ๐Ÿ˜ฒ ๐Ÿ˜”

She told me after I showed her my results 3 years ago that gp lung function tests are not as good as the hospital ones,so I think they got my results wrong saying mild when I most of been moderate.

I gave up smoking for a year and September just gone I started smoking again due to my mum dieing of blood cancer..It has been a fight to get her the care she needed and get her into a hospice.

My mum passed away in November and now alot of stress from siblings about her property.

I hope stress doesn't add to my lungs and as for smoking I am gutted that champix isn't available to buy anymore as It helped me stop smoking.

I have been given patches and gum I also.have a vape and will start 2moro getting off the things.

Fingers crossed ๐Ÿคž

That's a good attitude keep thinking that way. I'm so sorry to hear about your mam, so give up smoking in memory of her I did that on my dad's birthday which would have been yesterday. I had respritory failure while in hospital on that day. Lucky for me they managed to save me. So I promised I would never smoke again, it's now been ten years and still not smoking or ever will again. Hope this helps please keep posting. Have a lovely day and take care. ๐Ÿ˜Š Bernadette and Jack ๐Ÿ• xxxxxx ๐ŸŒน

Reading Google scares the life out of me the predictions on how long you have.I not been in hospital for my lungs and been lucky not catching covid.
