Last year I was diagnosed with
Dilated
Cardiomyopathy
and had a severe case of heart failure. I had just turned 38 at the time. I had a bad case of flu for a few weeks before the diagnosis.

High GGT?
I got a GGT result of 108 in May and immediately stopped drinking. I never drank more than 2 glasses of wine a night. My test results today were 60. I thought they would be back to normal. My AST was normal and ALT was just slightly elevated. 4 points over acceptable range. Should I be worried?

Another update!
Hello all I've had my letter from the consultant come regarding my latest results. I've gone from severe fatty liver to mild fatty liver, and borderline cirrhosis to normal! My liver contour is now as it should be so I'm very pleased. As I still have mild fatty liver I will continue to lose weight

Bilirubin
Hi All, Does anybody know if you can have raised Bilirubin levels, but no trace on a urine strip? Is that how it works? Or does the high Bilirubin always show in urine? Thanks for any input

Support for me
Hello, My mum has recently been re-admitted to hospital. I spoke to the alcohol nurse this morning who confirmed her Bilirubin is 172 and Alkaline Phosphate is 407, both more than triple what they should be. The nurse expressed concern given the rapid deterioration in my mums liver functioning and they

Diet for fatty liver?
After a bad relapse with alcohol my blood numbers had all gotten raised again, the doctors did tests and say while they are coming down and I don't have cirrhosis I shouldn't drink again and I have fatty liver. Other than staying off alcohol is there a diet I should be sticking too for this? While

Liver pain - how long?
Hi Everyone I'm a 48 year old male who was a heavy drinker from the age of around 26 to 45 when it came to a head and I stopped. I seperated from my kids' mum 2 years ago and since then have been leading a better lifestyle (much happier) and rarely drink, although I do have a terrible ready meal based

Alternatives to ICD + pacemaker
I'm 49 and have non-ischemic
dilated
cardiomyopathy
with few symptoms except occasional palpitations. Tests show LV function has declined progressively over the last 4 years and I am now in the severe category but I feel fine, am otherwise healthy and can exercise normally.

Variceal bleed
Last week wasn't fun. I had recently read the book by The Reverend Richard Coles "The Madness of Grief"- most unwise and I don't recommend it. His husband died from chronic alcoholism and a bleed. On Wednesday I started throwing up a lot of blood. Was on my own, terrified and convinced I was dying, called
