Is a 6.5% A1c Good Enough for You?
Is a 6.5% A1c Good Enough for You? By Sysy Morales of The Girl's Guide to Diabetes February 18th, 2019 The premise that a 6.5% A1c is great for a type 1 diabetic is based on the widespread belief that we simply cannot expect better results than that and still maintain safety from low blood sugars

Does hidden diabetes cause coronary heart disease?
the 2015 Euroaspire study, across 24 countries in Europe Identified diabetes as a trigger for Coronary heart disease. 29% of the sample were identified as known to have diabetes type 2 - which is known to be a massive driver of coronary heart disease, So they decided to dig a bit deeper. Nearly

PMR & DIABETES
I was seen at Beverley on 24/01 and given diagnosis of Polimyalgia Rheumatica and was informed the usual treatment was Predisolone steriod. But due to me being diabetic this would affect my blood sugar so i had to wait until the consultant had contacted gp/diabetic nurse before treatment could start.

I think it’s my Runniversary...
...but I can’t remember when I started C25K! The only clue I have is that I ordered my first proper running shoes on 28th February (thanks Amazon purchase history!) and I was doing C25K for a couple of weeks (badly) before this...so it’s round about now! But anyway, I found this quote and a year on,

People In Okinawa Live Longer Than Almost Anyone On Earth. Here’s What They Eat.
I know many here promote low carb diet so it will be somewhat controversial . Since I live in Japan and follow typical Japanese diet I wanted to share with you this article. BTW, I have PMR for 3 + years and with this diet I have not gain any weight at all. I know this will come as a surprise, Japanese

Statins and general update!
Had a fasting blood test for high cholesterol (second - first test gave 7+ result) last week. Due to hand foot and mouth and terrible state of nails they added on blood tests for diet deficiencies. So. First fab report is that nail lady fixed my poorly nails and they feel amazing. I phoned for bloods

I've just been given the yellow card. Don't want the red one.
Last Wednesday I was told that I'm pre diabetic. In the range 42 to 48 I'm 43 glucose level. No wonder I was feeling so tired. I was also told my BMI (89 kgs to 5.7 height) meant my BMI was 30.80 or thereabouts. On checking the statistics on line I found out that meant I was obese until I checked the

Possible Metformin side effects
I have PMR and been on Prednisolone for almost 5 years, currently reducing to 2mg. I was diagnosed with Tyoe 2 Diabetes and started in Metformin about 3 months ago. I have been feeling unwell lately, as well as dizzy and unsteady. Now I have abdominal pain, bloating, wind and a nasty episode of diarrhoea

Running essentials
Hi, I'm about to embark on my first ever phys since doing a Park Run 2 years ago. Other than the obvious good trainers and appropriate clothes, can anyone recommend anything else I may need? Like do people just hold their phones in their hand to use the app? Or is it best to get a phone holder thingy
