More or less T4 with T3?
These are some bloods from a test a week ago. This is on 75 mcg of T4 & 30 mcg of T3. It looks to me like I'm converting the T4 into T3 pretty well. Feel good except for an occasional cold and a stiff neck that cracks like a knee popping sometimes. My endo doesn't want to prescribe any higher T4 without

Major breakthrough in the treatment of leukemia
Bone marrow aspirate showing Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). Several blasts have Auer rods. Wikipedia This article out of the University of Montreal seems to hold some promise for the treatment of AML. Rather than just posting a link I thought it might be easier for all to read this extract

Blood sugar levels
I am not massively overweight. I have lost a stone and need to lose another half stone which is proving difficult. I eat healthily and am very active. I am 62. A recent blood test showed my Hba1c (measurement of how much sugar has stuck to red blood cells over the last 3 months or so) was 42, thereby

Problems with Zytiga / Prednisone
Hi All, I was put on Zytiga and Prednisone by my oncologist about six weeks ago after being on ADT and casodex. My onc said that adding Zytiga would extend life. Before starting with the Zytiga and being on adt plus casodex, my PSA was .2 and T was 290. With Zytiga and Prednisone added after six weeks

Immunometabolism
I was hearing about a couple of studies today, that I thought were interesting. There is a newly developing area of medical research called immunometabolism, which is researching the possibility of reversing certain autoimmune diseases with diet (particularly avoiding carbs) : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov

Advice on convincing endo re NDT
Can anyone advise how I go about rejecting Levo. I saw a highly regarded holistic endo and he sent me for countless blood tests, ultrasound, adrenal, GI effects (stool) tests. I was so hopeful and made clear my views on NDT during the initial consultation in case he felt I needed to start on Levo following

GLYCEMIC INDEX AND GLYCEMIC LOAD
FROM THE HARWARD MEDICAL SCHOOL-HOPE IT IS USEFUL. Strange, metallic smoulder. What might be causing it?
I have this... Sensation in my lungs, and around my chest. It has been there for a while, but it is hard to describe because it is unlike anything I have ever felt or heard about. It smoulders like a shot of strong alcohol, or when you push yourself to run for too long. It is uncomfortable, not painful

On the keto diet? Ditch the cheat day. Just one dose of carbohydrates can damage blood vessels
Reading some impressive posts on here lately about the keto diet, I was thinking about giving it a try. I came across this article and wonder what the more knowledgable HU members think. Thank you https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/03/190327112657.htm Date: March 27, 2019 Source: University

Need your opinion on today's bloodwork.
Okay, So as mentioned before, I am aggressively loosing weight to deal with my liver disease. I have been on an all liquid diet for a month an half and on average I have been losing 7lbs a week since. Since my Fibroscan test in April, (where I was around 350lbs), I am not around 258lbs. I am slated

Dialysis Nurses Trying to give unsolicited medical advice
The first one placed on the left side eventually started to erode due to the fact the dialysis solution is
dextrose
(sugar) based. The second one placed on the right side had yeast growing in it. Seeing that sugar breeds yeast. So, that was removed. My Vascular suggested another PD Catheter.

Eat more avocado! What I learned from the study that will change how we eat
Curious how I, and I suspect many others, have been hearing "personalised" in relation to medicine quite a bit recently. Which in the context of thyroid seems to result in TSH-only, levothyroxine-only and withdrawal or dismissal of anything else. Nonetheless, there are some interesting things going

FBS higher after morning walk !!
As a new experiment I checked FBS before and after a 5 KM morning walk. Surprisingly, before walk it was 125 and after it was 145. Googling says it happens as liver produces more glucose on exercising but enough insulin is not produced by my body. Thus the enhanced reading. What to do ??

An extended GF list for hypersensitive coeliacs and DH
Hi I'm not the only one battling with hidden sources of gluten, with a feeling that the standards set are a pure mockery. I know there's plenty of lists, but not everything is covered in them either. This might help someone like me that is continously trying to figure out what to avoid. What are you
