Stage 4 Prostate Cancer, Quadruple bypass, & now a brain tumor!

In August dad told me he was having some pain in his

Yeah , seems like a good bloke too ............... A lot of questions from him, He said this could be a challenge........... So, the short story is .........stop pred ........start hydrocortisone.............. Going away for a couple of weeks to see our son and his wife......so, not wanting to start

My latest very sad news
I posted on here quite some time ago. My beloved husband had been on immunotherapy (Keytruda) for lung cancer. He was doing so well - until he developed meningitis and was taken off the programme. He was out on steroids. He was observed and had MRI scans. Six months later he went on to chemotherapy.

Synactthen test
Could anyone give me a fuller explanation of the following please . I have just had the medical report for the Synacthen test that they i recently had at my local hospital. It states that “my baseline cortisol was 248 and that the 30 min cortisol was 369 implying that this was a sub-optimal test therefore

Update on Brother
I wrote a week or so ago about my older brother. He has since been released from the Hospital they are recommending Skilled Nursing or Home Care but he is refusing. At a minimum we have tried to push for Palliative Care and again he refuses. I worry about him as he live alone in a tiny camper and

My Addisons disease (adrenal insufficiency)
Hi. I am 59 later this month and in January this year I was diagnosed with Addisons disease. I've been in prednisolone oral tablets for the last 6/7 years to control my asthma. Every time I had a chest infection they would give me antibiotics and up my steroids. It got to the point my lungs couldn't

Stopping Tocilizumab
My Ophthalmologist has now mentioned ending my "allocation" of Tocilizumab whereby I will be maintained on 15 mg of Hydrocortisone and 20 mg of Methotrexate. I am unnerved by this and feel it will leave me at an increased vulnerability to relapse and have only one functioning eye. Has anyone gone through

Petition for publicly owned manufacturer for off-patent, generic drugs in the UK
I hope the mods don't mind me posting. There's a petition to "Establish a national UK manufacturer of essential, off-patent, generic medicines (such as hydrocortisone, liothyronine or insulin) within the NHS. Make these medicines at close to production cost, in order to prevent the unethical practice

Firstly, thank you, thank you, to all of those who replied to my question about Pred before tooth extraction, what a wonderful bunch of people you are, once again find myself thanking the gods for this forum. After reading them all , I read the prescription the Dentist has given me and it is indeed for

Diagnosed with cancer (HCC) just from a scan?
My father has been diagnosed with HCC from a scan. The fact it appears to be in a vein means he’s refused a transplant and given palliative care only. I sought some second opinions in Germany and Italy and they both looked at the same scan and do not believe it’s cancer. They recommended a biopsy.

Inflamed cuts/wounds
Is it the Pred or old age that makes it difficult to treat inflamed wounds? I always healed very well but now, even if I only catch myself on something, or even if I get a bad spot, things take ages to heal. I use antiseptic cream, cover the open wound with sterile pads but they take weeks (sometimes

Understanding test results
I have secondary adrenal insufficiency [ long term use of steroids ] I had a test at the beginning of Oct, and haven't heard anything back from the Endo clinic re the results, so I assume my results are ok, I'm not sure if I understand the results, [ I get them on line from the hospital] ]

Webinar - 3.30pm 10th December - End of life care for leukaemia
Hi all this a delicate and very important topic. We all work together here with hope and information to help each other cope when with living with Leukaemia. One day that may change and we may require different information to prepare should treatment no longer be appropriate and options run out. This
