Hi all. Just wondering if anyone suffers with teeth grinding when asleep. I have worn a mouth guard for years. The past 2 days I have had aching teeth on the right hand side. luckily today, it has gone. I did see that someone had mentioned teeth pain could be part of fibro. Anyone relate to this.

Hi Mandy, yes I grind my teeth at night, read somewhere that it can be fibro related, saw dentist a while back and advised that I would need a mouth guard if it continued, hope you find relief, 🌻🌺💐🥀NanaT

There a trial that is using tiny ear moulds you wear 24/7. They have to be custom made for you and are supposed to help. I think the person I know who is using them was referred by her dentist.

Hi Mandypandy yes I grind my teeth to the extent where it causes me migraines.I am back to dentist on Thursday after having physiotherapy on my jaw because it's effecting all my left side of my face causing middle ear ache, sinus aches and last week couldn't eat anything hard as my whole teeth hurt so bad.So let's see what is in store for me.I use to wear a mouthgaurd but lost it and to be honest made me feel sick.told me I could have one for £80. I told them I can't afford that.I have to pay for my treatment, but got the last one free from hospital so I have a feeling I will be referred back. Its really not nice.Hope yours start to get better soon but the physiotherapy has not helped me but it could you so give it a go 💝💐xx

Thank you. I have grinder my teeth for years. worn a mouth guard for years too. I really thought I would end up having to phone the dentist but it went off yesterday and ok today. I dribble aswell lol which is awful. My teeth are always clenched so tight in the mornings. I suffer with bad headaches/migraines and have done also for years. xx

Yes, I suffer this and have been diagnosed with TMJ syndrome. My dentist says it is related to the fibromyalgia and I’m being measured for a ‘special’ night guard in August but it will cost £200!! Have also been given jaw exercises. It’s a real pain and affects my neck. Here’s hoping you find some relief😊

I will keep you updated because I'm not paying for it when the hospital issued it for free last time hope your feeling well 💐💝x

Hi I suffer from TMJ too and my dentist gave me a mouth guard to wear at night which did not help. She was supposed to refer me to the Maxiofacial unit at my local hospital in December but did not do it until I reminded her in March. The waiting list is 11 months! My jaw locks, clicks and now grinds on the right side every time I open my mouth and can only eat soft food. She agreed it was due to the fibromyalgia. Good luck. X

Yes, Yes, Yes!!!!! I have had a lot of X-rays, root canals, fillings, etc.

It's all related to Fibro, and the medications we take that causes dry mouth.

BIOTENE will give you some relief!

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year.🎆🎈🎊

Hi Mandypandy1969,

Good luck with finding something that works for you. I have been a tooth grinder since early childhood, to the extent that I ground down my incisors and had to have a new pair filed into incisors, lol. I had this before the fibro diagnosis, so I don't know what that says about me...

Are you not entitled to free prescriptions or dental treatment if it's connected with your fibro? My dentist made me a mouthguard when I was younger and in the past year, I was made another one for free. I do have a exemption certificate and HC2 form due to Diabetes and now the Fibro as well as low income.

Maybe you could check if you are entitled to something that will help pay for treatment?

Best wishes

I am on e.s.a. and standard living only for pip. I have a mouth guard which I have had for years, gums are receding, mouthguard chewed through lol but can't afford another one. I don't pay for dentist treatment but doubt I would get another mouthguard for free. I don't have diabetes so doubt I would get any help towards one. Xx
