Questioning everything
This is mostly a venting so I apologize, I just need to get some things out of my head. I have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation. I've definitively and repeatedly connected it to my digestive system. In my most recent encounter with a doctor directly after I had been taken via ambulance to

Heart valve replacement.
Hi everyone. Hope you are all OK. I have been told today that I need open heart surgery to replace a leaky heart valve. I am sending myself round the bend as I am scared stiff at the thought of this surgery. Any help or advice you can give me would be greatly appreciated. If anyone has had this done

I’m 54 had heart bypass in October. My latest echo shows biatrial dilation. Any ideas what it is or how it will affect me?

Thinning skin and purpura from inhaled steroids
Hi all. I have been taking a low dose inhaler ( fostair 100/6 for the last 3 years and already have issues with crepe paper skin, which cuts easily. Also if a bang my arm or even give it a scratch I get blood under the surface ( think that’s what is called purpura) I’m only 58 and always have kept fit

First degree AV block - can it be caused by bisoprolol?
Hi All, This morning I did a ‘random’ Kardia (6L) ECG and it came back that I was in sinus Rythm with wide QRS. It was a one off and five mins later I did another one (and many others since) and all in normal SR. I sent it off for a clinician review as I’ve been worried about it all day and they’ve come

Fluid in lungs after cabg, heart bypass
Dear All So we went for my husband's first post op appointment today. There was fluid in his lungs post operation., which was 5.5 weeks ago. He took a diuretic medication as per the doctor's prescription. Today, from the x Ray, the Dr saw that the fluid is still there. He said that he is not worried

Post surgical stretching
I am now 2 weeks post open heart surgery for AVR. I have read on this site NOT to raise my arms above shoulder height as part of cardiac rehab, yet US hospital sites do recommend raising an arm alternatively over head to keep shoulders etc moving. Thoughts pls? I am starting to ache in my neck and shoulder

10 days afib now finished HR too low?
After 10 days of seeing heart rate mainly over 100 but zooming up and down, it is now on the 50s and little energy to move. Presumable the Bisoprolol working too well. Is this normal? I am not faint or dizzy

Levadopa
208 years and still NO medicine that stops or improves Parkinson.. Levadopa discovered in 1910 used in 1960's for Parkinson. I'm impressed that researchers can keep a dangerous drug like levodopa as the leading treatment for Parkinson's for so long!!! when it does not even cure Parkinson's and after

The importance of speaking to the right person & being persistent.
Well I went back into AFib 9 days after CV. Tachycardia, breathless ,light headed. I phoned the Arrythmia nurses number & was told it is a shame it didn't work but to get my Gp to do an ECG & send it to email. They would look at it & go from there.Probably decide to do a 24 monitor & see me in clinic.Waiting

Not to complain, but . . . maybe I need some reassurance?
I had a rough time in the recovery period from my cryo ablation at the end of June last year, after a promising start. Then, since October last year I've had a lovely period without any major problems. Sure, I'm sensitive now to whatever my heart is doing, and when I lie down in bed I can feel my heart

Open heart surgery recovery
I am 56 years old and pretty fit (apart from my heart valve issue!) and have just had valve replacement by open heart surgery. Keen to understand the recovery time for chest pain reduction post surgery? Is it weeks or months?
