Potentially odd question about dialysis
So I am looking at all my options. And I was wondering if anybody has gone on dialysis prior to stage 4. I am stage 3a, but I am feeling a lack of ability in regards to what I normally can do physically. I'd like to hold off the fatigue and such and get back to my normal(ish) life. I am normally athletic

Getting ready to start Dialysis
I had a visit with my Dr. yesterday. EGFR is down to 10. Although I am still not showing symptoms Dr feels we should start considering dialysis no later than three months. According to my neurologist symptoms are often not seen in PKD patients because the progression is very slow. Not sure how I feel

1 year and counting.
Yesterday marks 1 year since I started dialysis. Some good and some bad days but mostly good. I'm patiently waiting for someone to step up and offer that gift of life, a kidney. Good luck and God bless all of you.

Hi, A close friend of my be was diagnosed with lupus sle back in 2013, I think it had something to do with her pregnancy. Her health has been up and down since. Private Health Insurance while ESRD
I am taking care of my husband who has been on dialysis for over a year. He goes into a dialysis clinic m-w-f. We moved almost 2,000 miles in September to be near family. He is not getting the proper care through the VA in Texas and we were told that no private health insurance will cover him because

Had my sleep clinic results and yes I have sleep apnoea the top end of moderate. The have fitted me with a CPAP Machine today as the doc felt it was urgent so soon after the ablation. Can't wait to feel better. Any words of wisdom gratefully received. 😴😴

Great conversation from all!
I am so appreciative of everyones comments! Positive comments always help during difficult times! I started HD three times a week after putting off dialysis for months until my eGFR finally hit 8 and creatinine hit 6.56. I weighed the pros and cons of HD vs PD and thought at this time HD would be

1st Step
Today I will have surgery for the development of my blood vessels to start the dialysis process. The impurities in my body are starting to build up. I have several gout locations. A foot is swollen this morning and my face is puffy. I know all of these are signs that it is time to take this step. My

ESRD § RLS § severe nerve Damage. Inherited § nerve damage
I can remember my first anxiety attack when I was 16. I was in my early 20’s when my friend and boyfriend brought me home and put me to bed. They later said they could hear me thrashing around in bed like I was running with my feet under the covers. I had rls attacks over the years. Years later my father

Ground Hog Day
Well I had 3 days of sinus rhythm (with a few minor bumps). I had a bad headache all day Sunday and Monday and then this morning woke up at 1.45 am in AFib and it hasn’t stopped yet, nearly 14 hours later. The Digoxin keeps it down to a manageable rate so I can cope okay. It probably hasn’t helped that

Hi All, I joined this community almost a year ago and told my story. Now I’m writing to say I received a kidney on Nov. 21st. I’m 8 weeks out post transplant. I’m happy to have a new kidney. It was the best Thanksgiving & Christmas gift ever! I’ve had some complications, medication issues, and even

Waiting for a transplant
I have been on PD for 1 year. I do my dialysis every night for 10 1/2 hrs. I'm on the transplant list through Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fl. It would be great to find a living donor. My family members are not a match although my daughter in law has been going for tests to try and become a paired donor

Stage 4
Hi all I am scared. I have recently been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease, my dr seems overly keen to get me on dialysis. Im not so keen to rush into this life changing decision as i need to process my diagnoses. I have come across various articles where baking soda has been suggested to slow down

New diagnosis
Need an answer I’ve recently was diagnosed with sleep apnea. Given a form to inform DVLA of my new diagnosis. Form says not to drive but nurse didn’t say much about driving. I’ve informed DVLA and they said I can either evoke my licence or have an assessment. My problem is my partner doesn’t drive so
