Can running cause or worsen colds?
Twice recently I have come down with cold symptoms after a longer or harder than usual run. I've barely got over the one I had a couple of week ago, now I seem to have another one. Yesterday I hammered the Stamina" podcast and had a sore throat with a few hours....I got one within 5 hours of doing my

Heavy Cold & Sore Throat
Hi everyone, I haven´t been on here for some time as thankfully I have been keeping well. However, I´ve been suffering with a very heavy cold, sore throat and cough for three days now. I take 4 x 2.5 mg methorexate every week and have read the leaflet which advises no other drugs should be taken.

How I Found Out I Was Ill...
It was when I caught an ordinary
common
cold
...the sniffles and blocked nose and feeling rotten sort of a cold four years ago, that everything turned upside down...this was a different sort of difficulty to breathe...sent straight to hospital I thought they'd give me a quick blast on a nebuliser and

Buying New Clothes...
We went to Tesco's this afternoon...look at me, writing about a feckin' supermarket as though it's seriously interesting...anyway we went and the sky was bright blue and the wind howled and rocked the car when we came to the open parts of the road... Lorries were tucked into the slow lane...it must be

Quitting is Tough
Notice how much worse a
common
chest
cold
is for a smoker, yet they persist even though they feel like they're about to cough up a lung. No, smokers certainly aren't weak. It takes a great deal of grit & determination to smoke under these circumstances.

Close Encounters
In the mid 70s, My brother and me were returning home, following another step along the road towards rock stardom. It was about half midnight. What had been a lovely summers day had given way to a warm cloudless night. We were driving along a dark and unlit motorway, the M66, with the shimmering lights

Statins
My Rheumatologist has prescribed statins (I do not have high cholesterol or high blood pressure). I am on a reducing steroid regime for GCA having started at 60mg per day and am now down to 8mg per day. I do also have claudication in my right calf due, they think, to Cystic Adventitial Disease ( this

Brompton visit
Well, we did it. Pete, myself and our daughter went by train to London to visit the Brompton, wheelchair and all. The doctor there was very nice and discussed Pete's problems. She thinks the sarcoidosis has long since burnt itself out but Pete now has to deal with what is left behind. He has copd and

Worried to say the least.
Both infections come with the
common
cold
. Doc has subscribed me antibio's for my chest. Already today my mucus has went from a horrible dark green to almost white, but I don't know if that means I'm improving already.

GCA - Coughs, colds and flu
Coughs, colds and flu have really taken their toll this winter. Started on 60mg for GCA (positive biopsy) down to 7mg by mid November after 18 months and feeling fine, but since then have had two bouts of flu and at least 4 nasty cough / colds. Seem to be picking up everything going. Can't face the idea

Peter's health
Pete is not doing so well today, he seems to be choking a lot and producing excessive amounts of nasty sticky mucous. He does have his back up antibiotics but hopefully they will not be needed. He feels he bumbles from one thing to another but tries to remain cheerful. The back problem is seemingly being

Cold sores?
I was diagnosed (hypo with massive antibodies-1100 at last count) about 2 years ago and since then I noticed I never got any recurring infections like colds, cold sores etc but this morning I've woken up with the beginnings of a cold sore. Does this have any significance? The only thing I have done differently
