Copd diagnosed 5 years ago (2011)
Hello all, thought I would share my recent results which I am very happy with: I was diagnosed with copd 5 years ago, had been smoking 20 per day for 38 years. I stopped on 27 May 2012 at 5.45pm! My fev1 was 72% then. (Moderate) Over past 4 years I took up gym and swimming regularly - I am now 56,

I already have retinA at home, wondering if I should use it.
about a year ago, way before my Dx, I bought retinA serum to treat my skin against the sun damage and the acne scars I had. I used it for a while on my face with a combination of vitamin C serum. All this bought on Ebay and without medical guidance I must say. I think we all heard about the promising

CLL and Genetics....
The last time I wrote on this site, I had just been diagnosed with CLL, lost my job and insurance coverage. Well, some things have changed...I still have CLL but now I found a job working from home and have insurance. Recently, my older brother sent me a text telling me that he had a routine blood test

Choice and timing of treatments
I have 13q deletion CLL and, apart from fatigue, have almost no other symptoms. I used to get night sweats but they are now very rare. I'm beginning to consider what treatments will be best for me when necessary. My consultant Martin Dyer at Leicester Royal Imfirmiary has moved into full-time research

When we take the time to study what's known about CLL, we begin to find that some of what's been long assumed to be correct by researchers, is based on a reasonable assumption due to the impossibility or extreme difficulty of actually observing what CLL cells do in different parts of the body. Hi I'm David and I have recently been diagnosed with CLL, a great shock at first but I'm gradually getting my head around things due in no small part to the support network and online community. I am in the early stages and like many people was only discovered after my blood tests, felling a little tired

What about Duvelisib and CLL?
Friends, This week in the Beyond the Basics/Treatment section of our website, we’ve posted an article about another treatment under investigation called IPI-145 or duvelisib, a PI3 kinase inhibitor. You can read about how it works, the data that has been released and ongoing clinical trials here. [http

Complex Karyotype
My CLL is characterized by IGVH unmutated, deletion 11q, deletion 13q, and CD38 positive. There is no question that I fall into the high risk CLL bucket. But am I also a complex karyotype? My understanding is that the definition of complex karyotype is 3 or more CLL cell mutations. I know I have 2 (deletions

Hi. I've new & have been lurking.
So I'm new to the community. I was diagnosed in January 2016 after suspecting something was wrong for about 6 months, and having some B symptoms for almost a year prior to that. I have two other chronic illnesses that both result in a lot of pain and fatigue, so I'm told it's possible I have had CLL

Sugar craving
Hi, I'm struggling with stupid sugar cravings. Are these related to being hypothyroid? I'm recently diagnosed and a week into 25mg of levo. I'm hoping its related but solvable once my medication is right?

Epidemiology
No epidemiological investigations have previously been conducted in Australia according to the current clinical definitions of chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis (CFS/ME). The aim of this study was to describe sociodemographic and illness characteristics of Australian patients with CFS

Chronic fatigue
Hi my sister has had chronic fatigue or post viral fatigue for 12 weeks now and is not getting any better, she can hardly get out of bed. Blood tests taken, and GP says thyroid normal. I have been reading about the work of Dr Skinner and wondered if there were any other doctors anyone would recommend

WHO?
The 2016 revision of the World Health Organization (WHO) classification of lymphoid neoplasms is coming soon... and CLL/SLL is still a lymphoma. There are a number of changes particularly to MBL, which is now considered a precursor to CLL, in virtually all cases... but is subdivided in to high and low

Chronic Unexplained Diseases
There’s nothing easy about researching chronic fatigue syndrome. There’s no clear disease definition, no diagnostic test and not enough government funding to solve those first two problems. That’s why two studies led by Stanford researchers, funded mostly by private donations, are giving CFS patients

CC-122
Hi friends, This week in the Beyond the Basics/Treatment section of our website, we’ve posted an article about some ongoing promising immunological research in CLL with the agent CC-122. While much of the recent excitement, for very good reasons, has been about the new class of drugs that block the B-cell

Stick or Twist...Not Really.
Hi, PaulaS suggested that I write and let people who know me on here know how I'm doing. She suggested it quite a long time ago, but I didn't know how I was doing until today. I have just had the consultation post chemotherapy and have been told that I have achieved full remission, which is good news
