PMR flare advice needed
I have messed up with dealing with a recent flare and would love your advice on where to go from here. I was stuck at 11mg Prednisolone for many months and then one day I felt a change. From then I have been able to taper at 0.5mg every 3 weeks. All was good until I got to 8.5mg. I did my usual - add

Tapering off Prednisolone 5mg suppositories
Hello all, I'm wondering if anyone here has used Predsol 5mg suppositories for 3 months? My Gastro said it was ok to use them that long . . . I'm wondering if I need to taper off (for eg, use every second day for a few weeks?) The gastro was not happy with me last visit as my bleeding had come back

Incidence of Large Vessel Vasculitis in late diagnosis of PMR
When I read members’ experiences of prompt PMR diagnoses I’m truly pleased for them but I have to admit to feeling a degree of envy. My diagnosis arrived ‘only’ five months after onset of symptoms; I say ‘only’ because I know that for others the wait was far, far longer: PMRpro, for example, was without

Osteopenia treatment
I had had a DEXA scan recently . My last scan was 2 years ago. The scan has shown significant osteopenia with a T-score of -2.4 in the femoral neck. The rheumatologist calculated my FRAX score, My major fracture risk is 21% and hip fracture risk 6.9% in the next 10 years. I am on 6mg prednisolone presently

Severe mental reaction to prednisolone
As you can see if you read my profile I have spent almost the whole of the last 4 months struggling with a long list of frightening mood changes which have and still are making my life a misery. I cannot go on any longer. I began to think I am going insane. One of the family googled "Side effects

Sensitive post: BFP after 7th transfer but Prednisolone immediately stopped
Hi, yesterday I had the news I have been waiting for, finally a BFP after my 7th transfer (my first BFP in almost 3 years which ended in miscarriage). Whilst I am over the moon, I am also filled with fear. I have no more BETA tests booked in so next step is viability scan in 3 weeks. This morning I

Stiffness/sore muscles
I have been off prednisolone for 60 weeks now, and on TCX for 4 years, but on 4 weekly jabs for 40 weeks. That fourth week before the jab I usually experience a bit of fatigue, headache and sore muscles, which seem to go once I have that jab. This is that 4th week and I have been taking ibuprofen 2

chest infection
I am currently tapering from 30mg to 25mg prednisolone for GCA. (been taking pred since February). I have had a productive cough and what I believe is a chest infection for 2 weeks. It is definitely better this week than last week and the guaifenesin I have taken has helped. I do not feel unwell

steroids
I’ve just completed my second round of prednisolone/ antibiotics in so many weeks due to a persistent chest infection. I now feel so tender to the touch, almost painful, mostly on the trunk of my body, it’s a wierd feeling. Has anyone experienced this?? Could this be down to the steroids?? Not sure if

Blagging a scarce Covid booster
Recent posts have asked questions about Covid booster eligibility for those taking prednisolone and being immuno-suppressed, potentially.I flippantly replied to PMRPro recently that I would accept my invitation via the NHS messaging service, book an appointment with my local pharmacist and see if they

Disappointed and worried
Hi, Finally, i had my appointment with a Rheumatologist consultant. I went through my history of pain, I was initially diagnosed with PMR in sept last year by G.P who started me on 15mg Prednisolone, and a miracle happened. I also explained that unfortunately, I have been unable to successfully reduce

Thoughts please on dissolving Prednisolone in water to drink instead of swallowing whole.
I only spotted this yesterday on the information in the Prednisolone tablets. In "Method of administration" section it says: "The tablets can be swallowed whole, but they are best taken as a drink after dissolving them in a glass of water." I did it yesterday and today and felt the morning stiffness

Thank you! Increase to 20mg Prednisolone.
Thank you so much for all the amazing help and advice you have all given me. 🙂 You are all wonderful! In my latest GP phone appointment because of the knowledge you all imparted to me I was able to suggest increasing my Prednisolone from 15mg to 20mg. The pain/stiffness had got so bad during the 3rd

Possible Adrenal Insuffiency
Some advice please. I’ve been on prednisolone for PMR since 2014. I’ve been stuck on 5mg for maybe six years. I now have two compression fractures in my spine and multilevel degeneration, so I’m trying again to reduce using Dorset Lady’s simple reduction over five weeks - that’s 0.5mg over five weeks

Pes Anserine Bursitis - steroid injection offered.
On Thursday I had an appointment with a rheumatologist who had previously been quite impatient and dismissive of me. I made up my mind to give him the briefest details of my woes over the last 9 months. (This is a 6 monthly appointment 😂). He was happy for me to continue with my slow tapering and then

Salbutamol for Myasthenia
My EMG results were "Normal" so, despite the fact I have chronic muscle weakness that responds to prednisolone, 0.12 nmol/L of anti-AChR antibodies, and have lost my tendon reflexes, my neurologist says I don't have any neurological condition. I also have no detectable inflammation, so my rheumatologist
