I’ve just completed my second round of prednisolone/ antibiotics in so many weeks due to a persistent chest infection. I now feel so tender to the touch, almost painful, mostly on the trunk of my body, it’s a wierd feeling. Has anyone experienced this?? Could this be down to the steroids?? Not sure if I need to let my GP know but honestly just want to know if it’s a thing or just my body’s being a bit weird.
Thanks in advance

I have not experienced what you describe as a side effect of anti biotics or steroids. But perhaps you are reacting to one of the medications. Have you had them both before ? Have you looked at the description of side effects on the packaging ?
I had something similar last year after a chest infection and was told it was costochondritis, inflammation of the sternum due to all the coughing. It took about 6 weeks to disappear.
That sounds exactly what I am going through at the moment .I was in hospital for a week and came out with this awful loose cough which lasted over a week now my chest hurts ,not bad more sore.
Hi Claire, I did respond yesterday, but have a different view today. I am currently on anti biotics and steroids. I noticed yesterday that the my top of my stomach was sore. I am wondering if this is because the stomach muscles (or lower diaphragm) muscles have been strained by intense coughing. I have noticed the pain whilst coughing and while getting up from lying down. Its not exactly what you have described.
I often find this if I take prednisolone for more than a few days. Almost like I’m bruised all over but with no evidence of bruising. It aways goes just after I stop taking it.
