Another injury, wrist this time
Just the other day, for unknown reason, memory of an old acquaintance popped into my mind, specifically her frequent use of the expression, "What fresh hell is this?" Perhaps I alerted the demon in charge my fate when I wondered if I could find a reason to say it. Yesterday I'd just heard from my son

Reducing prednisolone with Methotrexate- what happens after?
I am on 7 mg pred for PMR and it just about controls my symptoms though I get quite stiff in my hips and neck. I reduced to 5 mg in early 2022 having met my condition first in June 2021. I think I reduced too quickly and have since had several flares. My rheumatologist wants me to start methotrexate

Here again for some knowledge and benefit from your wisdom. In February I was told that I have a number of heart conditions. One is two partially blocked arteries. I am waiting for an Angiogram and stents if needed, semi urgent. I go to Europe the end of this month so no chance of getting in until July

Inflammation and RLS redux
I've both queried and written about the possible roles that inflammation plays in RLS, but wanted to share what I recently learned, which again indicates that the relationship between the two is complicated. I was recently on methyl prednisone for a few days to calm down post-surgery inflammation

Antibiotic and Actemra
Hello folks, I have an infection in my tooth and need to take an antibiotic for 10 days. If I'm understanding the guidelines for Actemra correctly, apparently, I am supposed to stop my Actemra injection (which is every two weeks) while I am on an antibiotic. My question is, is that really necessary

Not sure what’s going on, I had blood tests because of headaches and temple pain but I’ve just had a call from rheumatologist now making an urgent appointment for this Friday and wanting me to increase prednisone from 10mg back up to 15 until I see him, very strange.

GCA or Occipital Neauralgia
confused. I’ve seen a rheumatologist three times in the last year Re:Temporal Arteritis . I’ve had a biopsy which came back negative, because previously my doctor prescribed steroids for inflammation and head pain. Rheumatologist prescribed 50mg of prednisone after a while to be gradually reduced.

Should go into the OMAHA2a ODM-208 (MK-5684-004): phase 3 trial?
I had my 3 monthly OC visit last week. Blood test is showing 0.3 up from 0.15 six weeks ago. MO is suggesting that I should go into the ODM-208 (MK-5684): phase 3 trial if PSA rises above 1.0. PSA of 1.0 or above is a entry requirement for the trial, presumable to be sure that my current treatment

Generic TCZ---is it available in the UK?
My friends, Without this forum, my GCA journey would have been entirely different. You have all been there to support me, educate me, and reinforce me when I thought I was sinking. It has always made me sad that TCZ is only available to GCA patients for one year, subject to review for an additional

Colonoscopy and Prednisolone
I am booked for a colonoscopy on 21 December at 2:40 pm. I have no other details and await a nurse to ring prior to the procedure. This news has not helped my anxiety, which has, of late increased to a high level for various reasons. I’ve read, and heard from friends, many horror stories about the medication

Does Immunotherapy cause Vasculitis?
Hi, my Mum had vasculitis in 2013 following a bad infection, she continues to take 5mg prednisone to this day.Sadly she has been diagnosed with a stage 2 tumor of the cecum which because of her age and frailty at 81 years old is suggested to be inoperable. Genetic testing reveals its a type of cancer

Experiencing possible neuropathy in my trunk
I had had 10 rounds of radiation to treat two spinal bone mets back in March. I am on Lupron (first shot was in March) and abiraterone and prednisone daily. PSA has plummeted and doing good. Prepping for chemo in May. This past Wednesday I started feeling some discomfort in my front and back. It's hard

New, A Bit Scared, Would Appreciate Advice.
For background I've got Ehlers Danlos, a genetic connective tissue disorder which causes stretchy joints, skin, dislocations and a whole host of other fun things. Also underactive thyroid and B12 deficiency/ pernicious anemia and asthma. In spite of my issues I've always loved exercise, keeping fit

PMR/Prednisolone and dental implants
Hi, I’m enquiring as to whether anyone else has experienced issues with their dental implants since being diagnosed with PMR and taking Prednisolone. I’ve been having trouble with one of my dental implants for a couple of weeks and on seeing the dentist today have been told that the implant has loosened
