My journey from misery to hope.
I wanted to share something. As some of you are aware, I had my Levothyroxine reduced just over 7 years ago from 150mcg down to 100mcg purely on the basis of the TSH. At the time I had only basic understanding of my situation as a post-total thyroidectomy patient. I had been quite well

High cholesterol & blood pressure, will T3 help?
My Dr is totally opposed to the idea of test for T3 and reverse T3 etc so I am on my own with this and I don't want to make a mistake. I have been taking T3 since Saturday after my battle with the Doctor last week. She was horrified by my high blood pressure (170/90 and high cholesterol) I can't

Iv`e had a mild problem with my thyroid for some years now, & at first I was just monitered because i had no symptoms. Recently my cholesterol levels began to rise so my doctor put me on Simvastatin. The drugs made me very tired & achy, & I kept falling asleep all the time. I stopped taking them because

Should I be concerned?
I am 69 with cholesterol level 6 and fairly low blood pressure which the GP says is very good. Both my younger brothers have recently had stents inserted and I am concerned that I may be at risk as my dad died with a heart attack at 69. I do not have any chest pain but I do get unusually tired often,

14 year old son starting statins
I have agreed to my 14 year old son with FH starting pravastatin. Feeling a bit nervous about it. Consultant wants my 10 year old daughter to start them too but I want to hold off a bit longer for her. Would value any advice, support from others with children on statins or anyone who started statins

Who Killed Bob WATSON? CARBS? -- HIGH CARB is bad diet for diabetics in particular.
Read following article -- This is not for those who advise high carb diet so please don't post your "SARCASM" on this thread and try and hijack it. You can keep eating high carb and keep eating pills and keep injecting more INSULIN to cover those carbs but let others have the freedom to chose instead

Could I be Hypothyroid?
I've been presenting with symptoms of hypothyroidism for the past 10 years, with blood tests identifying TSH levels at the higher end of normal and T4 levels at the lower end of normal, together with low ferritin levels (17 at the lowest). However since I remain within 'normal range' and despite a family

Results so far, still awaiting results for thyroid/adrenal...
I've just received my blood test results checking for anemia including iron, ferritin, active B12, red cell folate, reticulocytes, FBC, ESR, etc. I'm also concerned I may have a thyroid issue, as another blood test revealed a high/normal TSH. So thus far, my results of importance are as follows

High Overall Cholesterol but Low Ratio - is this good or bad?
I have just joined and I would be grateful for any help with the following. I am from the UK and I am confused about my cholesterol. My overall cholesterol is 9 which I know is high but my Ratio is 3.9 which is good. My HDL is 2.29 which is extremely high and I thought this would be good but I am told
