Hi, I've recently been diagnosed with having high cholesterol at 5.7, I'm 36. My sister who is 34 has cholesterol at 5.9
Both my parents have high cholesterol although not over 7 and my dad has angina. Could this be FH ?

I have Blood Test results - any thoughts, anyone?
I have bee trying to find out why my conversion rate is so poor, and why I am still tired on 150 T4 and 12.5 T3. I have not had the T3 done this time but that will be done Mon morning - I already have the pack for the home test. I'll add thhose when I get them, meanwhile, I wondered what your thoughts

Cholesterol is also good for you, as without it you would be dead.
I can't find any blog on here that shows how good cholesterol is for the human body and without it you would be dead? It is virtually impossible to explain how vital cholesterol is to the human body. No cells, no bone structure, no muscles, no hormones, no sex, no reproductive system, no digestion

Statins - good or bad?
I am concerned and a little intrigued by the fairly recent body of opinion that has grown up around the issue of whether statins are good or bad - in the latter case, held to be an evil promoted by "big pharma" and the doctors they "bribe" to sell their wares. I do not know if they are good or bad

Please can someone tell me whether my cholesterol numbers are borderline or not. I had a fasting cholesterol test before Xmas.
. Total cholesterol 5.9, triglycerides 0.9, HDL 2.2, LDL 3.3, ratio 2.7. Would the subsequent summons for the NHS Health Check have been as a direct result of the test do you think? The nurse who did the health check told me that one of the drs said the total cholesterol was too high but another

Starting Statins for my 7 year old???
My youngest daughter inherited FH from me and has so far had 5 fasting bloods done. Her most recent showed LDL levels to be 6.5. We are seeing the consultants next for our routine family appointment and will be discussing if Statins and if this is now the next step. However I would just like to know

Do you ever wish you'd never got your cholesterol tested?
This might sound sacrilegious when we are all told to "know our numbers" but I'm beginning to wish I'd never known. Four years after a very high reading (8.9) I am grateful that I have lost 2 stone, am taking more exercise and got my glucose down to near normal levels. What I am not grateful for is

Are commercial cholesterol testing kits/machines any use?
Hi, This is my first post. I have really benefited from reading all of your blogs and questions so far. I had a stent fitted 6 weeks ago due to a severe blockage in LAD coronary artery. Alongside all the other meds I need to take, I have tried Atorvastatin and Pravastatin (as well as Simvastatin previously

Cholesterol levels
Hi all I've been reading that high cholesterol levels can be a symptom of hypothyroid. I had a blood test and my cholesterol levels are abnormally low (I'm hypothyroid). Any advice? I read that organic coconut oil is good for this?

Concerned about taking Crestor
I had a heart attack, and a stent put in last September. Besides other meds I was also put on Crestor to keep my cholesterol low - but my last blood work showed it to be 180 - it has always been less than 200. There's a history of diabetes in my family (both sides) and I am concerned. There are other
