acupuncture treatment ! will it help.... I discontinued it........ Read on. I am a Type 2 diabetic since 2008 and i have been taking Diamicron MR 30 mg. before food and Galvus Met 50/1000 after food. I irregularly do walk in the marina beach and my sugar level used to be 170 in fasting and around 220 in pp.
I came across a acupuncture doctor 3 months back in Feb 2013, and i only went to him and wish to try acupuncture treatment instead of straining and milking my already dried pancreas using english medicines for insulin.
He started giving needle punches treatment every Tuesday and firmly said not to check the sugar level till he advise me to check and i agreed, He also asked me to stop all the medicines that i take for my diabetic and I did.
He further advised me to take up walking as a regular exercise in the morning and i meticulously followed by doing 1 hour brisk walking in the beach (close to around 5 Kms) and picked up this habit of walking.
He advised me not to touch white sugar in any form, stop consuming milk in any form, curd and buttermilk. I was eating banana everyday night for my constipation which also i stopped. I followed all these instructions very consciously too.
One Sunday, one hospital and a nationalized bank jointly organized a medical camp at the beach for the beach walkers, and they were testing sugar levels, BP, Cholesterol etc and i too under gone by giving sample blood (it was free for all too) and the immediately gave out the sugar test result and to my surprise my sugar level in fasting was 400 plus.
During the week, i got the cholesterol test result thru courier which was as follows:
Cholesterol was 189 mg/dl (desirable <200 mg/dl.
Triglycerides was 622 mg/dl (desirable < 150 mg/dl.
HDL Cholesterol was 43 mg/dl
LDL Cholesterol was 22 mg/dl
VLDL Cholesterol was 124 mg/dl
Total Chol : HDL ratio was 4.4 mg/dl (desirable < 3.5)
I was feeling terrible having known that my sugar level is 400 plus in fasting that day. On the next Tuesday's visit to the acupuncture doctor, I told the doctor this. He said not to worry and the sugar level will even go up due to the acu treatment and advised me not to check and get worried. I wasnot convinced with his answer. When asked why am i shedding weight (7kgs i lost in three months i.e. from 82 Kgs. to 75 Kgs.) and for that too he said because of his treatment and walking. He said loosing weight will do good as the tummy gets reduced, pancreas will start function normally.
He further said the bad sugar is not getting the insulin hence it is circling in the blood and they will get washed away thru urine. He further said, as long as you are energetic, don't worry about the sugar level. (btw, Iam 53 years old)
He also said the English medicines will push pancreas to supply insulin even to the bad sugar that gets in to one's system thru the food that he eats where as if one stops the sugar medicines, then the bad sugar will not get the insulin and the cells will be free from having bad sugar. I was not sure. Is this statement true.
i wish to ask in this forum, what will happen if the sugar level keeps on increasing in the blood. how will the sugar level comedown. will the excess sugar get out of my blood thru urine.......
i stopped going to the acupuncture doctor two weeks since and eventually started my English medicines as all my office colleagues and relatives were keep on advising me to take care of my health as i am loosing weight and look pale. I am doing my brisk walking and carefully avoiding white sugar, milk, curd, banana but couldn't avoid my buttermilk. this morning my sugar level in fasting was 187.
